Feeling Down

IDK...I have feeling a bit down lately. I am doing this for a class I am taking and was told to calculate my BMI, came out to 42. Which is apparently obese... Well, now I am very depressed and not feeling to great about myself. I want to lse weight, but being a full time single mom and student, it is hard for me to do that, especially with a 2 year old. I am not financially able to go to a gym right now, not to mention I have no transportation and with me being sick all the time, motivation is something I lack anymore. (I have sever depression and bipolar.) At this point I am starting to think it is a hopeless cause and I will just be fat forever! I mean, what else can I really do>

Considering you're short on time, are short on time and money, I suggest you focus on your eating habits. You can at least do that for now, and it really doesn't need to be expensive or time-consuming to make your own food. You'll need to do some research, but once you get in the groove of things and change your diet around you'll feel a lot better to take on your life. You don't need money to exercise, and if you're short of time, find intense exercises that go for ultimate calorie-burning in a short amount of time. Good luck, don't give up!0

Sometimes when women get depressed it is just your hormones and you'll feel better in a day or two depending on your cycle.
When you exercise it is proven it will increase endorphins and seratonin (feel good hormones). It is the best dang anti-depressant non-drug around. You may still need meds by your doctor for it, but this is no doubt going to give you a boost. Plus the thought of how you will feel afterward just because you did something GOOD FOR YOU.. Mom's give up so much of their time and let themselves go or put themselves on the backburner for their babies/children. When you do something to take of you, not only do you feel better, but you are able to give better and be better for the baby.
You don't need money to be in amazing shape. The founder of Body for Life and Transformation (Bill Phillips) got into the best shape of his life using what he could find at home. Many of his ppl on his site are like you, can't go to a gym and showed before and after pics saying they made weights out of bricks, rocks, milk jugs that had dirt, water or sand. And there are millions of free workouts online. That require little to no equipment. You can use a kitchen chair for calf raises and chest pull ins for your tummy or milk jugs to do squats, etc.
Body Rock has daily workouts that last 20 min. Very intense but you don't need a gym. They are on youtube.
Also Youtube has many other workouts to do at home. Search or Google workouts at home without a gym.
I couldn't go to the gym once and did mini circuits that was something like, "20 jumping jacks, 20 squats, 20 lunges, 20 sit ups, 20 push ups, repeat). I learned it from Biggest Loser. Go to "the science of eating" on FAcebook and like their page. She posts circuits nearly exactly like that all the time to do at home. I write them down and take it to work to do, bc I don't have equipment there.
I have run up and down my front porch steps a 100 times (it's only 3 steps) but I couldn't get to the gym.
Take a walk, walk the baby (in warmer weather).
DVDs are about $10 - $20 at Walmart. 30 day shred that everyone is talking about on MFP is about $10. The circuits are only 20 min. Great for when the baby naps or eats. Put the high chair by you and take 20 minutes a day.
Another time I didn't have money, a car or a gym so I turned the radio on and danced around the house. Even if you're cleaning and you have the radio on funky music it will make you dance as you clean. It burns more calories.
YOu can always do something, you have to get creative.0 -
I also have the problem with short on time (a 3 year old here, along with 2 teenagers lol) and VERY short on money. The first thing to do is work with your eating habits. Once you start eating more of the right things you will start to feel a little better. Also if you have access to the internet (hopefully with computer lol) what you might want to do is go on YouTube. I have about 30 exercise videos saved in a playlist that I can play on my computer. They are free and up to an hour long and are a good burn. If you are worried about starting low impact or not doing too much too soon, I would recommend trying Leslie Sansone. She does an aerobic walking routine that is a great burn and will help you lose weight but it's low impact. I lost 40 lbs just doing her stuff. There are all kinds of different exercise routines you can find on the internet and even if you can't buy weights or kettlebells at this time you can use stuff around the house. Cans of veggies or fruit, heavy books, etc. Then the better you feel the more active you can become. It's going to be hard and you're going to suffer from depression on and off during the journey but it's going to be worth it. Don't give up and good luck!
Hope this helps a little bit!0 -
Thanks Guys!
I will definitely go on Youtube and check out some videos. And I have been googling some sites to find some ideas for better eating habits. Let's face it, with a toddler I have been just pretty much grabbing the easy food. And that has NOT been helping anything at all. Time to sit down and actually think things through. Eat better, and do some simple exercises. I really don't want to be one of those moms that have zero energy and cant do anything with their kids! I have to be full of it to keep up with this little ball of fire lol.0
