Liquid Diet Suggestions (with reluctance!)

Hi all!
Firstly just to start off i do not condone a liquid only diet, this is not a fast or silly diet fad!
Basically I badly chipped a tooth over the weekend and unfortunately cannot see a dentist until next Monday without incurring a massive £80-100 appointment fee before i even sit down!
So I'm pretty much restricted to a liquid only diet to avoid further damage to my poorly tooth and so not to dislodge the temporary stuff i have on it at the moment.
Sooo, apart from soup does anyone have any food suggestions please? thanks in advance! xxx

You could probably do a lot of just soft/mushy foods instead of just liquid. Things that don't really require chewing, but aren't really a liquid. Things like oatmeal, mashed potatoes, cream of wheat, smoothies, puréed fruits, etc. I would maybe pick up some protein powder to add to each of the above items, simply because eating puréed meats isn't very appealing. Though, you could also do plain Greek yogurt or cottage cheese to help get some additional protein into your diet.0

What about soft foods like jello, yogurt, or applesauce? Or you could make fruit/veggie smoothies and protein shakes.0

I'm not typically a big fan of meal replacement either... but I have been where you are!
Tofu blends up smoothly if you want to make a shake (or, this would be one of those times you might want to find some good protein shake mix.)
yogurt should be easy to eat too.
i wonder if you get small curd cottage cheese if that would be ok? if you want a bit of flavor without having to blend up fruit, you can use some natural jam/fruit preserves.
fruits can get blender-mixed with milk and/or yogurt. or get some applesauce.
veggies can get blended too, usually we think of mashed potatoes but you can do sweet potato, cauliflower, butternut squash... those mash well.
Good luck!0 -

Green smoothies with protein powder added... Tasty, and a fantastic way to get micro and macronutrients and calories.
Whipped potatoes or whipped cauliflower.. no chewing involved
Make a chicken soup with a strong stock and cook it with rice until the rice begins to break down.. add some milk and toss it in to the blender.. Creamy soup and it's a whole meal!
jello-protein-whip.... dissolve sugar free jello in half a cup of boiling water (if you use full sugar jello, then use 3/4 cup) half cup of cold water (1/4 cup if using full sugar variety) Mix water and a scoop of protein powder thoroughly.. add to jello. Stir. In a blender put a cup to a cup and a half of lowfat cottage cheese. and add a bit of your jello liquid so that the cottage cheese can be smoothed out in the blender. Once the cottage cheese has no more lumps, add the rest of the liquid and blend on high for 30 seconds. Pour into container and let chill in the fridge. YUMMMMMMMMME dessert and a nice way to get protein.
Eat a lot of lentil soups.. yum yum yum.. You can add spinach carrots and onions and run it through the blender. The RED lentils make awesome thick soups.0 -

Smoothies you don't have to go all high fangled or high calorie to get a nutritious delicious smoothie and the extra fiber in them will help to keep you feeling full. My best tips are banana and orange juice are RIDICULOUSLY delicious together and if you put spinach into any add some frozen strawberries it makes is way better. Use unsweetened fruit juices and check any frozen fruit for added sugar.
Oh frozen fruit! You can puree frozen mango to make a wonderful icecream or sherbert replacement. SO yummy!
Hope your tooth feels better soon. That sounds really painful. Sorry it happened.0
