Good alternative to nuts

I keep seeing nuts recommended as a good, healthy way to add some healthy fats into your diet, but I'm really not a nut fan (it's the texture, rather than the flavour).

I figure there must be something else good out there that would do a similar job; people with nut allergies must find some sort of healthy snack with all those good fats!

What's a good alternative snack to nuts?

If it's the texture, nut butters. Use a measuring spoon to judge serving size.

    Balls.
  • I find it funny that people are suggesting peanut butter when you clearly say you don't like nuts :-P

    Definitely avocado. Mmmmm....!

Do you care for seeds? I don't know what it is about the texture you do not like, but maybe seeds would be a little different texture wise (I just started eating pumpkin seeds, they are pretty good).

Maybe home made granola bars? I just started making them, and I modify the amount of sugar, and put in more healthy foods (likes blueberries, raisins, chia seeds on top) and these fill me right up. You could add some healthier oils to them, to give you that healthy fat.

What about yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese sticks? These all have fat, protein that for a snack they will help give you energy and fill you up.

    Thanks for all the suggestions!
It's a silly thing, really don't what it is about the texture. I'm usually not a fussy eater at all, but there we are.
I'll try out some different seeds and making my own granola bars; both seem like a good grab and go snack for those afternoon slumps at work.
