TGI Fridays UK

Hi

I'm going to tgi's on Saturday night for a friends birthday. I've been looking at the menu trying to work out what is best to have but the UK menu doesn't provide nutritional values. I know the US menu does and having looked at it do you think the calorie contents would be the same/similar, just thinking in case some ingredients are slightly different?

I'll only have a main no starter or pudding and I'm just doing a low cal diet so I eat meat, veggies, fish etc.

There's also not that much food that is the same across the UK and US menus

When I go to restaurants like this and am being very strict about what I'm eating, I'll go for a steak and ask for a plain salad as the side, with the dressing separately. Perhaps go crazy and have a baked potato if I'm hungry ;)

Most times, though, I exercise to make room and make sure it fits reasonably within my limits.

One thing I always do is drink plenty of water to counteract some of the sodium bloat.

Personally, I don't get to go out that often so when I do, I just have absolutely whatever I fancy lol (would be jack daniel chicken with cheesy mash - yummy!). I'd probably have a boiled egg for breakfast and make some very low cal veggie soup at lunch. Plus do some extra exercise to try and keep as many calories as possible for the meal.

I know TGI are happy to swap fries for jacket potato and vegetables, or salad etc. If you are counting calories probably best to stay away from sauces, although the jack daniels sauce is the main reason I go there lol.

I think last time I went I went for the Jack Daniel's chicken. Now, that is yummy! But the desserts are horrendous. Half a cookie dough cheesecake slice? 800 calories. WUT?!

It was so sugary, I just had to stop. Probably because I was steaming from all the purple rain cocktails I was drinking.

I would either have what I want, and eat really well for the rest of the day so I can fit it in, or go for a steak. Sauce on the side, and get it with their seasoned veggies and swap the fries for a salad.

    :) Enjoy!

I haven't been to TGi for a couple of years, and haven't looked at the menu but from what I remember, I would probably have the JD chicken with JD prawns, the veggies they give you, and NOT chips but either a salad, or a healthier potato option if they offer one.

I have just had a look at the menu and I would stick to above, JD chicken and prawns, I would eat the onion rings & veg but ask for no chips and a salad instead.

Ooh, the other option is look at their gluten free menu http://www.tgifridays.co.uk/site/static/files/TGI6298_AllergyMenuAWeb.pdf You can have a burger without a bun and again skip the chips and have a salad.

I want to go to TGI's now!

Do they still do ice cream cocktails? Barnamint baileys - ice cream, oreo, creme de menth & baileys.... Drools!

    Don't have one of those!

Thanks for your input guys, think I'll just do a bit of swapping on the sides and have either steak or chicken. I just thought it odd that they don't have NV's when most other chains do, makes you wonder how fattening everything really is!

I usually have Cajun wicked Chicken, sauce on the side.

To be honest the worst thing is french friend and the portions of fries are huge at TGI's, probably 400 calories easily.

I am Gluten intolerant so my choices are really limited here and even though the above is on their GF menu, I was very sick after I ate there so will not go back again.

Pretty much everything in TGI's is fried/unhealthy. Even their salads are drowned in dressing, cheese, croutons, bacon etc. I don;t believe anything there has any nutritional benefit whatsoever. You are going to eat 1000 calories if you dine there on average (without desert).

I've just looked on the database and it says the cajun wicked chicken is 655 cals surely thats just the chicken part and rice and corn need to be added? If thats the whole meal I'll be very surprised and pleased!
