Don't let food and exercise control you.

A fascinating article that I've stumbled on and wanted to share;

http://tinybuddha.com/blog/being-fit-without-letting-food-and-exercise-control-you/

"A LIFE WORTH LIVING

In this ultimate battle for health, in this pursuit of the perfect body, we sometimes fail to understand the true meaning of life and what’s really important.

Of course, everyone has different interpretations on the meaning of life, but I think we can all agree on one thing: life is meant to be enjoyed.

Right? If you’re not enjoying life, then what’s the point of living?

If all you think about is exercise and food and how certain things will affect your body, then you’re never going to truly enjoy the things that make you happy?

You’re not living your own life, but instead you’re living a life controlled by something as menial as eating.

That is not a life worth living."

    I really like this. :) I hate being told I have to obsess over food and exercise to be healthy... I don't believe that is true, it just needs to be part of your life.

    This is good. I went to a dietician to see about setting the right calorie goals for myself as I was really stressed. Do I go by MFP? What formula should I use? Should I get a heart rate monitor? What about my TDEE?

    She told me to stay around 1800 calories and just do that for the rest of my life. No secret formula. Just that my height and age and frame means I should get around that many cals, some days more some less, and don't obsess! It's so much easier to know in my head that it's a long term thing and to just stay balanced and live my life.

    I happen to like obsessing about food......much moreso now than when I was eating like crap. Working out, planning meals, cooking and entering my calories are now just an activity of daily living, like showering and brushing my teeth. It doesn't control me, I choose to do the necessary things in life and I make them fun. If you're not looking at this as a lifestyle change, you're doing it wrong.
