Success isn't always about the numbers...

I say that because in the last two months I have made almost 0 progress as far as my weight is concerned. Am I a little sad? Sure... but it's my fault for not eating the way I should.

While a lot of my success is dependent on my numbers on the scale, this last weekend I had a major victory in regards to my fitness.

I ran a 7k... and I finished under my goal time of an hour. 4.34 miles in 55 minutes, running the whole way.

I made the plan, I followed through, and I won out against that voice that said "you can't do this, give up."

*yay me*

I don't know you but I'm so proud of you! Knowing that you can do hard things and push through difficulties gives your mind such a boost. It's awesome for weight loss, but it's even more awesome just for confidence in general and feeling strong and capable. Keep it up! You CAN do whatever you set your mind to!

i agree about success not always being about the numbers, for I am stuck at the same weight after my initial loss of six pounds. I have however increased my fitness level. I shocked myself by doing more than fifty jumping jacks the other day and just a little over three weeks ago I could barely do three (I have just begun my journey). My clothes are fitting better and my energy level is WAY up. I just remind myself, it is not a race.

    That is AWESOME!

I was just commenting elsewhere that when my scale is being obstinate (because, come on, it's for sure the scale and not me, right? hehe), I sometimes have to remind myself that while losing weight is good-great-awesome, I'm also doing this for my overall health and fitness. So rather than fling a table and throw myself face first into a cake, I am still definitely making progress on two outta three of my goals, which sure ain't bad.

So, yeah. Stupid scale. Rad run!

Yes! Minimal movement on the scale for me, but lots of "pluses" everywhere else...better fitting clothes, looking and feeling better, etc. It's not just about a number on a scale. Keep it going!

24 pounds down in six months. 1/3 of the way through but down on inches and actually enjoying exercise without going to extremes. MFP and all my supportive friends is brilliant!

App set to one pound a week loss. I am learning patience!!

Thank you for this reminder - and well done on your accomplishment! That is certainly nothing to sneeze at!

I struggle with staying motivated when the scale doesn't say what I want it to say. I get into the mind-set of "well, F it. I'm not going to do any more exercise since it obviously isn't doing anything!" But it's important to remember that it IS doing things. It's making me feel better about myself, it's helping my muscles, it's even helping me focus on my upcoming day at work, and destress after it. And any other thing in life I wouldn't just give up because I didn't "get my way" when I wanted it - so why with the scales am I so willing to declare myself a failure and give up? Humans are certainly funny creatures!

Congratulations - you are doing a fantastic job. Don't forget that.
