Baby Weight Battle

I've had 2 pregenancies. Gained 60 with the first (like my mother) and 40 with the second (thanks to a trainer).I breast fed with both and only lost 20.
My nutritionist won't let me drop below 1300 calories per day. And even if I exercise 5 days a week, I might lose 5 pounds over the course of 4 months.:grumble:
I am still 30 pounds over weight (clinically) and my doctors are stumped. Thyroid is normal.
Can anyone relate to this?

Weight is weight ... baby weight is as hard to lose as any other kind of weight, after the initial water loss and birthy stuff and the baby itself !! I just read Dr Huizenga's book (dr from the Biggest Loser) and the take away from it is ... a lot of exercise is the way to go if you want drastic results, specifically, "two a days" where you do an hour in the morning and an hour at night. Impractical? Impossible ?? YES, we all say (I mean come on, you have TWO KIDS !!) but if you absolutely KILL yourself with a mostly cardio workout 2x a day you WILL get there. Not mindlessly grinding away on an eliptical or taking a walk. PUNISH yourself !! And look at it like people with kidney failure look at dialysis. You have to do it to live. It's for your health. When it's not optional, somehow you do it, right? That said, I only get one a day in and I have NO kids !! But if you really want it, look at it as a "medical must" like dialysis, or chemotherapy, rehab (that's not convenient either, but when you gotta do it, you just do!) and make the time count by really pushing yourself beyond your limits !!!
Those 1300 calories will evaporate off you before they even have a chance to land :laugh:0 -
I have 2 kids also. Gained 50 with the first and 35 with the second. I also breastfed them both. I did not have any of the elusive "Rapid weight loss from breastfeeding" that everyone promised. Over the year that I was nursing my son I lost 20 lbs with WW. Now that I have started this journey again in January after a few months of giving up, I am down 31 total. I am losing slowly but surely and hope to be at my goal by my PT test in August.
Just don't give up. It will come off evenually, just takes time. I have also recently bumped my calories up a few hundred just to make sure I wasn't too close to my starvation point. Amazing how hard it is to eat those without feeling guilty!
We are here for you!! :flowerforyou:0 -
Same thing happened to me!! I gained 50lbs with my son, breastfed and lost only 20lbs. And even with a better diet than before I got pregnant, I can't lose anything!! I admit though I DEFINITELY slack on the cardio.0
