Patellofemoral Syndrome & Surgery

My knee makes a sound like velcro ripping loudly when I move it. I've been told its PFS (Patellofemoral Syndrome) and that the noise is bone-on-bone. And it has been doing this for the last 3 or so years.

Basically it is stopping me from doing anything high impact, running and I've even subconsciously modified the way I move, like sitting down on the loo to stop my knee from grinding.

I've been getting physical therapy on it for the last few weeks, but it hasn't been improving. My physiotherapist says if it stays like this (not improving) for the next 4-5 weeks, I'll be referred on to a surgeon. Ep! Has anyone had anything like this?

  • My daughter has it. She was given a brace to wear during physical activity and it helped a bunch. My niece had it and ended up having surgery for it. She had a very long recovery but is doing fine with it now.
