Been exercising regularly and (mostly) eating plant based diet for several months. Just had a checkup with doctor. Weight: -30 lbs. Total cholesterol: 148. Triglycerides: 118. LDL: 87. HDL: 37 (!) :( Taken off one BP med.

Thanks to my beautiful, supportive wife, Kathy, for doing the food and not minding (or at least not saying) me getting home later after work and gym. Doc says losing it is perhaps the easier part of the battle (easy for him to say!). Keeping it off is tougher. Goal - ten more pounds to to lose, bring up the HDL, and get off other BP med.

People knock cardio but with cardio and watching what I eat I went from BP 139/91 to 125/70. I haven't checked it since lifting but it sure beats having to go on meds. Congrats.
