Top Five Movie Villains?
Bored. So... who are your top five movie villains of all time?
My rankings:
1. Joker (As seen in Dark Knight, I should probably pick Darth Vader, but there you go.)
2. Darth Vader
3. Boba Fett
4. Tyler Durden
5. Hans Gruber
*Edit to add: No specifics-- just picking the villains you personally like best. Use whatever guidelines you want.

It's hard to say what I'm ranking here: most frightening, favorite in general, most creepy...

3.) Cruella Deville (-what? She scared the bejesus out of me!!!)
4.) Voldemort
5.) Tybalt from Romeo & Juliet (played by John Leguizamo)0 -
Wicked witch of the west
Ah, that's a good one.0 -
Voldemort
Darth Vader
Professor Moriarty
Norman Bates
Mike Myers0 -
Roger "Verbal" Kint - played by Kevin Spacey in The Usual Suspects
Mason Verger - played by Gary Oldman in Hannibal
John Holmes - played by Val Kilmer in Wonderland
Aileen Wuornos - played by Charlize Theron in Monster
Tom Stall - played by Viggo Mortensen in A History of Violence (both villian and hero and the whole complexity of Viggo Mortensen kills every damn body!)0 -
Mason Verger - played by Gary Oldman in Hannibal
oh man, he was so creepy in that!!!0 -
1) The Joker (I like both Jack and Heath)
2) Daniel Day-Lewis as Bill "The Butcher" Cutting in Gangs of New York
3) Kevin Spacey as John Doe in Se7en
4) Gary Oldman as Stansfield in The Professional
5) Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith in The Matrix0 -

Deville! I love, love, love her and her fabulous hair.0 -
Joker
Terminator (1 & T1000)
Michael Meyers
Dr. Lecter
Jew Hunter0 -
Anton Chigurh - Everything about him is amazing. He's polite, yet completely demented with a strange set of morals he sticks to so much. Also, the sand blaster gun thing? Yeah, awesome.
Hannibal Lecktor - Again, I love the polite respectable villains. He's so charming and amazing, that if I had to be eaten, I'd love to be eaten by him.
Edele & Dez (Running Scared) - Hardly anyone has seen this movie - and you don't see much of what this couple does, actually. You see their home, them interacting with children, their "play room", and you get a sense of what is going on. You later find out what they do to the children, so imagining it is just so much worse. Great movie, by the way.
Jigsaw - Dear god why do I love the smart killers? Jigsaw is one of my favorites. I love Saw 1, and I'll let Saw 2 and 3 slide by... but beyond that... meh. Still, I love the premise of Jigsaw and his method and his even more demented moral set than Anton.
Ryu and/or Park Dong-jin (Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance) - I love them because who is the villain? Who is a victim of circumstance? Who actually committed the greater atrocity? For anyone who liked "Oldboy", this film is the first in the trilogy. All three are amazing... Lady Vengeance is actually my favorite, but I like these villains more for just the deciding for yourself who is really the villain versus victim.
I like movies. A lot. Especially horror.0 -
Not in order :
The Joker (Heath Ledger's portrayal was awesome)
The Family from House of 1000 corpses
Hannibal
Darth Vader
Viki from I, Robot
I'm just going to footnote this by saying that Trinity from the TV series Dexter trumps them all0 -
2) Daniel Day-Lewis as Bill "The Butcher" Cutting in Gangs of New York
That is one of my favorite movies SOLELY for that character.0 -
John Holmes - played by Val Kilmer in Wonderland
Really? I never saw him as a villain I guess in the classical way... Just a drugged out dude0 -
3) Kevin Spacey as John Doe in Se7en
Dang it! I need more than 5. He totally creeped me out in this movie!!!0 -
Darth Vader
The Terminator
Davy Jones (Pirates of the Caribbean)
The Joker (still partial to Jack Nicholson's version)
Lex Luthor0 -
1. The Joker(Especially Dark Knight)
2. Darth Vader
3.Voldemort
4. Michael Myers
5. Hans Gruber(I'm in love with Alan Rickman)0 -
Dr. Hannibal Lecter
Darth Vader
Jack Torrance
The Joker (in any form)
Hans Gruber
Good list!!! I might change the order, but all 5 make it0 -
The Family from House of 1000 corpses
I saw "Devil's Rejects" BEFORE House of 1000 Corpses, even though timeline wise it happens after it. I LOVED Devils Rejects before I saw House of 1000 Corpses. Now I can't watch Devil's Rejects just because I always think of some of the nastiness in House of 1000 Corpses so it ruins it for me, ha.0 -
Lord Voldemort - Harry Potter
The Evil Queen - Snow White
Freddy Krueger - Nighmare on Elm Street
The Wicked Witch of the West - Wizard of Oz
My favorite though is Scar on The Lion King though because never wastes time exposing his plan, never hesitates... he just takes matters into his own hands and gets **** done0 -
Voldemort
Darth Vader
Professor Moriarty
Norman Bates
Mike Myers
My top 50 -
1: Darth Vader
2: John Doe (Se7en)
3: Joker (Dark Knight)

5: Michael Corleone0 -
1. The Joker (Heath, hands down)
2. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs...the sequel was just bllllleeeeegggghhh)
3. John Doe (Kevin Spacey in Se7en)
4. Scar (The Lion King...I MEAN CM'ON, HE KILLED HIS OWN BROTHER THEN TRIED TO KILL HIS NEPHEW.)
5. Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving in the Matrix Trilogy)0 -
Edele and Rez from running scared is a great one!
Scar, Devils Rejects, John Doe (7), Predator, Denzel Washington in Training Day
I'm also adding Bane to my original list.0 -
John Holmes - played by Val Kilmer in Wonderland
Really? I never saw him as a villain I guess in the classical way... Just a drugged out dude
Well not only did he, in the movie, participate in bashing people's heads in, he also, in the movie, sent his underage g/f out to settle a dope debt by basically agreeing to be raped and who knows what by the drug king pin..... idk, some pretty bad stuff IMHO0 -
Anything with a sexy twist.
The ones where:
- you HAVE to go through with the game - Saw.
- you almost don't care to be killed because he's kinda hot - Terminator.
- you want to join him - Joker.
- you also want the gold - Jafar from Aladdin.
- and most of all, because I love the rush - Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
That chainsaw noise is a turn on.0 -
Not really my favorites, but wanted to throw some new ones out there because there's a lot of overlap
The Warden - Shawshank Redemption
General Zod - Superman 2
Biff - Back to the Future
Dr. Evil - Austin Powers
Gordon Gekko - Wall Street
Edited to add Derek Vinyard - American History X0 -
John Holmes - played by Val Kilmer in Wonderland

Oh he was by no means a role model. Lol. But yea cocain and heroin a hell of a drug. Lol.0 -
1. Darth Vader (cuts off his son's hand for misbehaving... that's tough love)
2. Ming the Merciless (had his own daughter imprisioned and tortured)
3. Khan Noonian Singh ("Allow me to introduce you to Ceti Alpha 5's only remaining indigenous life-form.")
4. Col F.E. Cochrane (you can always tell how much of a d!ck the villain is by how loud the applause is when he gets wasted... it was thunderous!)
5. The Violator (John Leguizamo playing just right)0 -
The Child Catcher - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang ... well, scared me when I was little, lol! Probably not quite what you were thinking of!
Col Hans Lander (Christoph Waltz) - Inglorious Basterds
The Creeper - Jeepers Creepers
The Joker - Dark Knight
The Dentist in Marathon Man (Laurence Olivier) ... when he was taking Dustin Hoffman's teeth out ... shiver!
... and Rutger Hauer's worth a mention, in Blade Runner as the replicant ... and as the driver in The Hitcher
... and Richard Attenborough as Pinky in Brighton Rock. Chilling.0
