strength/weight training at home

i cant get to the gym as i have 3 small children i have an elliptical and exercise bike and try to use it daily but on mfp lots of people suggest weight/ strength training is good too. i dont really know where to start and can you do it without much equipment. any ideas would be great.thanks

You can start without weights ..... push ups, sit ups, squats

Pilates and power yoga are other forms of exercise that don't require weights (just a mat)0 -
I cancelled my gym membership a while back due to finances. I've invested in some barbells (8 lbs) and a couple of resistance bands, which allow me to do at-home strength training. There's also a lot you can do using your own body weight (pushups, crunches, tricep dips, etc.) If you Pinterest, I'd recommend checking out their Health and Fitness section. Some of it is hooey, but there are a lot of solid at-home workouts.0
