I've began jogging almost everyday (with about two rest days). This is my second or third week doing so and I've found that I can comfortably run about 1/2 of a mile before I tucker out; I push through it but I seem to stop more often to regulate breathing.

Just out of curiosity, how long did it take for you to progress as a beginner runner?

I tend to walk the first block, run about four blocks, walk a block, run about four blocks, and walk the last one home. I'm currently running/walking a mile. I don't except results now or anytime in the near future, but is this an okay start?

As long as you're not overly exhausted, you're probably doing OK, but if you want to go longer, you'll have to go slower. If you would like a programmed progressive approach to running longer, google "Couch to 5K." It's a program that will safely take you from 0 to 3.1 miles running 3x/week.

    Thanks! I appreciate the suggestion!

I'm not exhausted at all after the run; I come home, do my cool-down and usually do something a little more relaxing if I don't decide to take shower. I feel great and I've had no injuries/soreness/cramping thus far :-)
