Midnight snack? A do or a don't?

I've always heard eating after 8 is bad especially when you are on a diet. However if you have an early supper (5-6PM) and aren't going to bed until 10-11 what should you do if you get hungry?

If you have calories left, eat. It won't make a difference.0

It doesn't matter what time you eat, as long as its within your calorie guidelines0
