So i got a scale that does water and body fat percentages as well as weight of course. The scale says i qm 46% fat. When i go to websites and figure my bmi based on height, 5'6", and weight 204lbs, it says i am 32% fat. What the huh? anyone have any insight?

Try http://www.skinbodyfitness.com/bmr_bmi_bfp.htm , post what you get cause I couldn't do it for you without knowing your neck, waist and hip measurements

I use that one.. I noticed from reading posts on here asking this question that the scale measurements are crazy high. I think 32-40% is more along the lines of where you are probably at

BMI can't help you determine your bodyfat %. BMI is your Body Mass Index. Ignore it.

BMI is very inaccurate but I'm not sure I trust the scales either. I have a hand help fat monitor but I'm not sure if I trust it. For myself I know that over 150 I am overweight so the closer I am to that the better. I have also heard that the fat checkers are less accurate in the morning because supposedly you are dehydrated in the morning--part of the reason we like to weigh in the morning since it is usually our lowest weight.

I have a fancy set of scales but I know the Bioelectric impedance Body Fat reading will not be accurate as hydrostatic weighing. However its useful for measuring trends and as long as I do not use one measurement in isolation it provides me with useful information.
