How long before you dropped dress size?

I was wondering how long it took people before dropping a dress size. I've gone down on shirt wise but pants are at a halt. I now have a different issue. I have a lot of room in my waist, but now fight with thigh problems. Never had that issue before. How long/how many pounds did it take before you started going down dress sizes?

I'm at two months, still haven't gone down a size in pants- they're baggy, but still fit my hips. I think it depends on where you lose- I've lost 4.5 inches from my waist but only 2 from hips so far. I am down in shirts, from an XL to L.0

I have the same issue. I went down to a Large in shirts and stuck on the pants now.0 -
We probably have the same body type! I'm trying to focus on measurements and fitness, although it is frustrating! What exercise are you doing? I'm doing insanity right now.0

40 pounds before I dropped the first dress size.... then about every 10 pounds since...0

My pants are ALWAYS the same size, think it's my hips/*kitten*! :smooched:0

I go to the gym 6 days a week, do 3 miles a day, and alternate between arms/stomach and legs every other day.0 -
Once I hit 6 months of consistent diet and exercise, the first size went down. Then again after another two. Then again.
I've gone from a 22 UK bottom to a 16/18 bottom, and a 22 top, to a 16 top. Bottom is not balancing out well and I personally feel like a pear, but I'm concentrating more on the overall effect of my progress, than the physical aspects (though they help too!)0 -

This is so reassuring! I've dropped 55 lbs now, started at a size 20 (probably the top end of a 20) and I'm still technically a size 18 now, I'm getting into a 16 in tops but I'm starting to get really frustrated that whilst the scales are in my favour and all my old clothes are too big for me I'm still having to buy a size 18. It is disheartening but I guess as long as you know what you're doing is right then just keep at it and it'll pay off in the end!0 -
it was 1.5 stone before i dropped my first dress size0

It has been 2 1/2 months and 15 pounds and I have not gone down a size yet. My current clothes are fitting a little bit better-I think. I should have measured but I didn't.0

Last year I lost 20lbs and didn't lose a dress size.
I lost about about 4 inches from my hips too.0 -
You all have made me feel so much better!!!!! You have no idea how much this exact thing has bothered me. I'm glad to know its not just my body!0

I've lost almost 15 pounds and I was able to fit into a smaller pair of pants, but my bigger pants still fit without falling off. They're really baggy all around the butt and hips but the waist band still holds them up. It's kinda weird. My shirts, however, feel tighter than ever! I would kill for my shirt size to go down because none of them ever fit over my gut.0

I think it depends on how you are losing. With just changes in diet, you don't lose the same (dropping weight) as you do with strength (more likely to lose inches)... That being said, I don't even know because I lost 9 pounds and while shirts fit better - my stomach doesn't push out the bottom and pants feel better, not so tight, I haven't been sized. Just started some strength training a few days ago..0

I've only lost 4#'s (took me a month to do it because I was tinkering with my daily calories, strength training is about all I do, as in no cardio) but today I happened to go dress shopping for a Union dinner this Saturday night. Surprisingly, I bought an 8 ! go meeee!
I started at a very very tight 12 and not all would fit over my shoulders :grumble: If they went on, they didn't come off easily. I was always afraid of ripping a seam in the dressing room. Before I tried on the 8, I was trying on 10's and though I was able to get into them, at 5' certain styles just didn't flatter my figure.
I had no problem getting into the 8 dress, but doubt very much I could get into an 8 in pants  I lost from my chest, back, shoulders and upper torso.0
