Is this normal?

I'm sure most of you would say go and see my Dr. which I am planning on doing but I was wondering if anyone has personally experienced anything similar.... I started actively exercising in November and of course then in the beginning I thought it was normal to experience dizziness and nausea while exercising because my body wasn't used to it...well for the most part after a little while it went away and I've been ok but then for some reason everyday last week I had horrible headaches after working out. Then this week I unintentionally (except for sunday) didn't workout but still somehow dropped 3lbs. in like 3-4 days while still eating just a little bit under my calorie goal which I thought was strange...then just a little while ago I started my normal workout and in a matter of a couple of minutes the same old feelings came back...Dizziness, nausea, and now a horrible headache. I only made it about 8 mins. until I just had to stop. Could this just be because I took so many days off in a row?? Should I start with something a little less jumping around and from the floor to back up again and work my way back into my normal routine??

Everytime I get up to just walk a few steps I get really dizzy. The same thing was happening to me last week along with the headaches.

Are you eating before your workout? If so, what sort of things?

Yes, I ate oatmeal a little bit before. I usually have to wait about a half hour to workout after eating to let my belly settle a little bit.

I've been doing the 30 day shred and last week I started the befit 90 along with it which some days there isn't even a lot of cardio in it.

I had the same thing happen but it was when I didn't eat for a few hours before working out.

You may want to try uping your calorie intake. When I get dizzy when I am wokring on cutting down I take liquid vitamin B. Vitamin B has helped me with headaches and my dizziness.

I am not medically trained in any way but the headache and dizziness would suggest a couple of things to me:

    1. Dehydration - 80% of headaches are caused by dehydration. Are you drinking enough before and during your workout?
    2. Ear infection -
    3. Lack of food before working out - although I have never been affected by this as I work out better on an empty stomach!

    Hope you get sorted soon,.

My guess is you're a little hypoglycemic from eating at a calorie deficit. I see that you're fairly consistent at 1400 calories or so, and it's obviously working for you because you're losing. But my _GUESS_ is you need to add more calories. Not a lot. Just a little. An extra 100-150 calories can go a long way to prevent dizzyness. I'm not trying to give you medical advice, definitely see your doctor, but when I'm working out hard and get "a little" lightheaded, I stop and have about 100 calories of something carb heavy. That helps me get back to working out in about 15 minutes. But if I'm "really dizzy", then I stop for the day. But I try to think about how many calories I've had in the past few days and when exactly I ate them. Then I adjust my meal times to coincide better with my workouts and when I'll need the calories and the extra blood sugar.

Stay hydrated throughout the day. It only happened to me once, when mountain biking in 102 degree heat and I had not stay hydrated (with actual water, not coffee, soda, tea, juice, etc.) through the day before going out.

    Hope that helps!

First of all, are you drinking enough water? And eating enough food with vitamins and iron? It used to happen to me too, then I'd have a banana or a jacket potato after and it would get better, you should start off doing exercises that are at your level, slower ones, then build up intensity and length gradually as you feel you can, also, are you stretching and warming up properly first? Raising your heart rate rapidly makes you feel ill, I'd def see a doctor anyway just to rule out anything else. So many things can make you feel that way during exercise though.

It could be a number of things. Let me just say that last week I thought I "over-did it" at the gym, and it turned out I had a kidney infection! So, just keep a look out for yourself and see a doctor if you feel you should. That being said, are you anemic at all? You might need some iron. Be well!

The symptoms you indicated are not normal during physical exercise, regardless of your fitness level. The fact that they are persistent is suspicious. Please visit your GP for blood work.

When I was younger, exercise induced migraines were a problem for me. Migraines are caused by vasodilation and constriction - which is magnified by exercise and heat and dehydration. If you are close to your menstruation starting, or close to ovulation that also plays into it.

I had to stop doing regular intense exercise because of it. I hope that's not your issue. Try to stay hydrated, eat foods with Magnesium (like a handful of almonds) every day.

My opinion: Don't guess. Doctor, right now. If it's something important and you don't get it early, you don't get that chance back. If it's nothing, then you're simply out a doctor visit. Again, just my opinion, but the potential cost of not going seeing a doctor is WAY too high. Speaking from experience.

I agree with everyone else, definitely see a Dr. but more than likely its dehydration and lack of enough calories. I used to get cold and awful headaches after a spin class where I would burn 600-700 calories ( I was also eating 1200 calories). I upped my food intake and made sure I was drinking all of my water plus an extra 32 oz for the hour of working out.
Hope that helps and you feel better!

Also make sure you are warming up your muscles and cooling them down after your workouts instead of just jumping directly into the workout, or just stopping at the end.

Stop exercising. Go see your doctor. Begin exercising only after your doctor approves you to. Be honest about your symptoms.

Dizziness and nausea could be a lot of things. But some of the things it could be are bad. So, be safe. Go to the doctor soon so you can get cleared for exercise soon.

    All the best!

I'm definitely not consistent with drinking enough water...but have been trying to work on that. Some day I can drink 64+oz. and other days as low as 16. I definitely stretch before...and I've built myself up to this level...so I know that I can do it, this is just a sudden change as of last week...

You seriously need to see a doctor. tumors/diseases/ blood pressure.... etc cause the same symptoms.

Make sure you hydrate well before, during, and after exercise. Lack of hydration can also cause dizziness and such but you really need to see a Dr.

    good luck

You know your body better than anyone else. Sure, all of these symptoms can be from something as simple as dehydration (very common), but if you suspect it may be something more, you should definitely get it checked out.

I'm no expert, but for me I experienced this sometimes in the past as well. For me, it was either being dehydrated -- or more often related to too many carbs. From looking at your diary, it looks like quite a bit of cereal, oatmeal, wheat, etc. If I were you, I'd experiment for just one week cutting out all that and instead getting your carbs from real food vegetables. Up your protein with eggs. See if that helps. The first few days you feel a little tired when your body gets used to no more refined carbs, but then you'll suddenly have way more energy.

Just my $.02 based on my own experiences.

I think you should have your blood pressure checked. Especially because you get dizzy and get a headache...and especially if it goes away when you stop exercising. I have controlled hypertension and before I was on meds I almost passed out when I got off a treadmill one time. I was so dizzy and the room spun for like 5 minutes. And headaches are common when bp spikes.

ABSOLUTELY see your doctor. It could be as simple as your system needing more cardiovasular training to work at a stressed level, but it could be other issues with diabetes or early signs of a cardiovascular issue (not trying to alarm you). So go get checkd!

I had the same issue. when I finially sought out a doctor, he informed me that I have high blood pressure. and perscribed a mild HBP meds (cuz I don't like the side affects from other HBP meds I've tried to take in the past) needless to say, I don't experience those dizzy spells anymore and b/c there's no side affects, I take my meds on a regular basis. My BP has gone down to normal and I feel great. So, you definitley want to talk to your doctor. You may also have HBP or cholesterol issues (sorry for the spelling) Good luck

Sounds like a blood flow issue. I have a friend who was finding it hard to breathe and turning blue during exercise. She has to go in for a stress test, cardiogram and bubble check. It only happened while exercising.

Go see your doctor. Maybe your blood pressure is spiking at least that is what the symptoms sound like to me. Also, make sure you are getting enough potassium! It makes you dizzy..... if you are at a deficeit.

Thanks, everyone. I made an appt. and they can't get me in until the 25th...so maybe I'll try a few things until then to see if I can make any improvements.

I recommend just focusing on eating right and laying off exercise until after you see the doc.
