Not reaching minimum calories, any ideas?

For some reason, I am actually have a hard time reaching the minimum of calories a day (1200). When I am hungry, I'll eat half the meal (which is small to begin with) and be stuffed!!! I wont be hungry for another 3-4 hours and then it'll happen again. I'm only getting in an average of 200 calories a meal at 4 meals a day.
I know this is NOT healthy because my body will think I'm starving myself, right? I have been drinking a lot of water, could that be the issue? Does anyone have any advise or ideas to try?

Peanut butter and a spoon. Quick, easy, effective, and tasty.
Edit: Also cheap.0 -
Exactly. I had peanut butter and banana to throw me over the hump today as far as getting to my calories.0

Avocados? Cheese? Crackers? I don't reach my calorie goal most days either, but little snacks help a lot!0

Your diary isn't open so it's hard to say, but usually when people ask this question the trick is to indulge a little... allow yourself a few of the things you think you're not supposed to have. There are plenty of healthy things that are high in calories.
Nuts, seeds, salad dressing (not low-fat), avocados, nut butters, just to name a few...
If you eat meat, beef... If you eat dairy, cheese...
If you're trying to lose weight you don't have to switch into some special diet mode where you can't eat anything good. The key is moderation.0 -

Eat your whole meal.. do this for a week or 2 and you will get used to eating.. Ditch the low fat stuff.. You can easily eat 1200 if you try.. Eat 6 meals a day, snacks between meals..
If it was hard to eat that much this site wouldn't exist.0 -
Eating 1200 calories is really not that hard. Choose more calorie dense foods, lay of the diet foods if you eat them, and plan your day the night before if you need to.0

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that in addition to counting calories, you've also substantially cut fat from your diet...because a lot of people think fat = being fat. Get your healthy fats. Your diary isn't open so I don't know for sure, but I've looked at other people's diaries when they have this issue and they're usually doing low fat/no fat everything...if that's you, stop it. Your body needs fat.0

i used to think these threads were jokes. how could anyone not be able to eat 1200 calories? that's what i used to think to myself.
but on closer inspection, i discovered that a lot of people (almost always young women) trying to survive on 1200 calories per day were also following some non-scientific notions that required them to only eat fruits and vegetables and low-calorie foods in order to lsoe weight. not only is this not necessary, but it's also not healthy. you need dietary fat. you need protein. you should not be restricting yourself to just eating salads and celery and carrots and such. you have to eat more calorie dense foods. nuts. beans. bananas. rice. etc.
if you can't eat 1200 calories per day, it's because there's not enough variety in your diet. eat a cinnamon raisin bagel and you'll add 270 calories quickly from that, for example.0
