Net calories help please

Ok, so I know people say to net 1200 as a minimum but with 1358 as my BMR (MFP wanted to set me at 1340 for 'lightly active and 1lb a week loss so I upped it to BMR) and burning up to 500 cals (got a HRM) a day I'm struggling to believe that I will lose weight if I basically have to eat all my exercise calories back?

Can anyone enlighten me.

To expand on the last response--your body needs your BMR amount to have all your organs functioning properly. Which means that if you ate, say, 1300, and burned 500, your body only gets 800 which is not enough! MFP automatically works in a deficit, so by not exercising and eating the recommended amount you still burn calories. Thats why you need to eat your calories back, and above BMR.
