Lifts for shoulders

I have been diagnosed with DCO (Distal Clavicle Osteolysis). Basically, think of it as arthiritis of the AC joint and it means I can't do lifts above my head. I'd like to be able to work my delts a bit, and develop my shoulders as much as possible. I can do straight arm raises in front of me with little trouble, but just about anything to the side will almost buckle my knees from pain.

Any suggestions on lifts that might be doable?

I hadn't heard of DCO, so I googled it. It sounds a lot like mine. 20 yrs ago I took flight off of a vehicle after someone hit me and landed on my left shoulder, breaking my collarbone and tearing a ligament lose from it. I have what they called impingement, where I can't raise my arm above shoulder level, especially with any weight. I am trying to find some ways to strengthen my pecs and front delts, but everything hurts it. I was able to keep lifting for a few years after the accident, but now, not so much.
From what I have read so far on med sites, there isn't really anything else I can do besides not do the things that aggravate it. Great.
There is surgery as an option, but not very successful. And I have had more than my share of surgeries already.

Your choices will be limited with no overhead pressing or side raises. Focus on progressing at front plate raises, dumbbell raises, cable raises, etc. Incline DB Press isn't overhead and provides some indirect shoulder work.

Were you prescribed any PT, they might be able to provide some input.

yes, I've been doing PT for about a month.
If PT will only do so much......I may have to have cortisone shots, but since I'm a diabetic, I'm trying really hard to stay away from those.....or surgery (which may have to happen).
