HELP with stress please!

A bit about me........Desk job M-F 9:30am to 6pm so very little movement all day long!
Quit smoking same day as I started here about 2 1/2 weeks ago. All of sudden every stressor possible has come into play and I feel as if I am going to break and buy a pack of smokes and a giant bag of Doritos. What ideas do you all have to deal with mass amounts of stress???

Think about how you might feel after you've finished a pack of smokes and a big bag of Doritos...
Will you feel good, or will you feel unhealthy and guilty? If you would feel unhealthy and guilty, and bad about yourself it will only lead to bigger amounts of stress!

Good ways to deal with stress are to make sure you get plenty of fresh air, exercise, drink plenty of water.. I know it doesn't sound very appealing when you are stressed and you just want to binge and scream into your pillow..it is frustrating, but if you go for a run or a walk it will release lots of endorphins and will naturally make you feel better.

    Hope this helps
    Xoxo

Take 15 minutes out of the day to meditate and clear your mind. Youtube has nice guided videos. Learn to cope with whatever is stressing you out so that you can focus on your weight loss. Try pilates, yoga, or even a massage. Figure out what relaxes you and do that more often. Good Luck!

Try keeping busy with activities you enjoy. Maybe make a "bucket list" and start planning on how you can achieve those things you want to do. I know keeping busy seems like it would be more stressful. I quit smoking 3 yrs ago (after 18 yrs of smoking) and keeping busy....catching up with old friends, getting back into knitting, reading books I've always wanted to read, watch shows/movies kept me busy enough to be distracted from craving cigarettes and made me laugh and overall made me happy = less stress! Also find time to exercise a little bit at least five days per week...you'll feel better and will be so proud of yourself and you'll just overall be happier (happy = less stress). Good luck! :)

I live in a home we had to buy back in 2010, because m sons wife had a stroke when she was 5 months pregnant, they had been married 9 yrs and she wasn't supposed to be able to have children due to a genetic issue....they owned their own home 700 miles away....everything had to be done in a specific and very streamlined manner, sell their house, buy one here in SC. My son find a new job, while his wife is being transported...it was the most stressful yr of my life.....
I had a therapist who had recommended Binaural beats, it is nature sounds with different tones that are specific to, for lack of better word, re-align you brains way of dealing with things..I am no scientist so you'll have to do your own research if you are interested
Anyway I first bought this one
    http://www.amazon.com/Stress-Relief/dp/B007BY1IEU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1363221392&sr=8-3&keywords=binaural+beats+for+stress

Then I bought another for motivation
    and another for exercise
and finally another for metabolism....I download the 59 minutes for 99 cents, and play it over and over on repeat all night long, either on my kindle, or mp3 player, or in the cloud on my laptop, set to replay........ I cannot say enough about how these have changed my life!
So that's what I do....oh and take Andrew Lessman Vitamin D....:)

Deep breathing! You'd be amazed at just how much breathing techniques can accomplish as stress relievers (well, physically anyway). Since the mind and body are one, anything that helps physical stress will work to lower mental stress (or enable you to cope with it better) and mentally de-stressing with soothing classical music (harp music has been scientifically shown to be the most soothing) and a nice warm soak in the tub will do wonders.

for the cigs, keep a pic of smokers lungs. use it as a screensaver if you really want to freak your coworkers out. For the Doritos, find something you want to reward yourself with, like new shoes, after you hit your goal weight and keep a pic of that and other pretty things available. Also, if you can manage it, go for a walk. Go to the copier, whatever. And never sit at your desk and eat lunch. Go outside if at all possible. You'll eat less and feel better. Good luck.

    Exercise!!

I quit smoking over 10 years ago, haven't had the urge since. I work in a VERY high stress industry, and I balance it with my workouts. You would be amazed at how much Yoga & T'ai-Chi can really help rebalance your body. I do Yoga, T'ai-Chi, Pilates or Budokon in the AM before getting ready for work & then I hit the gym for weight/strength training after work.

I also made myself a deal years ago: I spend my "extra" money on good healthy food & once a month I buy myself a hard-earned "treat": new workout gear, new workout DVD, cold-air intake for my car (OK, that's my I've earned it through the year reward!), etc. I find what is good in life, and while yes, I do have my down days when I feel all is almost lost, but I keep with my workouts, I add extra T'ai-Chi or Budokon if needed, and for the last several years it has worked.
    (PS - I battle a life-long serotonin & norepinephrine imbalance - I medicate with workouts, nothing else.)

Hang in there Kimmy, you have been here before don't go back! If you must, a small bag of Doritos and bum a smoke from a friend/co-worker. People will lambaste me for that but hey, as i have said before, we are human, perfection isn't an option. :( But dip your toes in the ugly pool to get you through this bump....don't jump in for a swim! I bummed 3 or 4 smokes a week for probably 3 months......you will eventually walk away! DO NOT BUY A PACK! You have come to far to start all over! Try to dwell on the good things you have.....I know easier said then done....TRUST ME my life is not all that great, but I know there are people that have it much worse than me. CHIN UP and don't fall off the wagon at this point, but i don't worry about dragging your feet from time to time!
