Slow and steady?

I am prior navy and used to be in excellent shape, however I am now a disabled veteran and gained so much weight over 10 years. I have lost 9 lbs so far but despite walking almost every day this week, the scale has not budged. What the heck is going on? I am trying to be as accurate as possible with tracking my calories. Oh yes, just beginning strength training and boy, have I become a light weight!

i have lost three pounds in three months and I too just started strength training...so I am right there with you wishing it wasnt slow and steady, but in the end that is what we want...if it were easy everyone would be doing it, right?

Slow and steady is the way to go. I have lost 20 pounds in a year here. You have to set small goals for yourself. As you reach 1 goal set a new 1 to do a little better the next time. We did not gain this weight in 1 day. I feel what counts is you are here and working on taking the weight off.

Find what works best for you and bluid on that. Put a picture of what you want to look like in six months. Look at it four or five time a day and say I can do this. I just need to believe I can do it and I will. With the support of people here you can do it. See I already believe in you. Now go out and show the world what you are made of.

If you stick with the weights you'll see your strength increase pretty quickly. I didn't believe that when I started lifting consistently a few weeks ago. I have been able to increase weight weekly. Don't stop, be consistent, and be careful. Watch your form and don't hurt yourself. Listen to your body. You probably know all that but that's what I've got for advice.
