Late dinners

I need some advice. My daily schedule isn't the most productive for my diet, and my work hours don't really give me the best eating schedule. Here is what a typical day look like for me.

6am wake up
630 start cadio
7 get kids up for school
730 shower
8 eat break fast on go to work ( normally bowl of special k or oatmeal keeping around 300 calories)
9 start work
11-1 fit in lunch on the go ( no set break time for lunch and not always getting a full 30 mins at one time I try to keep my lunch less then 500 calories)
7pm end of work day
8 dinner ( this is where I really need help because Im eating late and need to keep my calories on this meal below 800)
9-10 Bed time.

I have 3 kids all who have some kind of special needs and receive home therapy 4 nights a week. My husband is a great man who takes care of most of the therapy and makes dinner. Up till this point I have been eating what ever he makes for him and the kids but in small portions. The kids have a short list of foods they like so our dinner plates don't have much variety to them.

Any suggestions on what to do at dinner so I'm not eating heavy so late?

It literally doesn't matter what time you eat your calories at as long as you leave a deficit. You can eat it all in one sitting (not recommended) or eat a twinkie every three hours (also not recommended) and still lose weight. Just make sure you're eating the kind of food you need to be eating (hitting close to your protein, carb, and fat amounts - not too much over or under) and voila! you're doing it correctly.

Why are you worried about eating late? The late night eating is a myth. Have a read of the link below.

If you have a busy lifestyle and this fits, don't worry about it. Watch the progress and make changes as and when necessary for continued success. It is way more important that the plan fits your daily routine. As things change, roll with it and adjust. All will work out fine.

Thank you Brad. I read over the article and can say that a lot of what I thought I knew was listed in there. All of the nutritional eating habits makes me want to hire someone to say here eat this now and then eat this later. It all gets so very confusing.
