Need suggestions on knee supports for running/skiing

I could use some suggestions on what some of you runners/skiers use/like for knee supports. I don't necessarily have bad knees, and I'd like to keep them that way, lol.

This probably isnt the advice your looking for, but i was reading an article the other day bout power lifters and the dangers of knee braces. Because your body realizes its being supported it will allow you to put a little more pressure/weight to the braced area which if under developed or in need of strengthing can cause issues (I know you want it for skiing and running and not power lifting). I know its not really an answer to your question, but just something you might want to consider before assuming that adding braces is going to be a safe route.

I recommend you talk to a physician. I was taught support systems such as a back brace can actually make you more inclined for injury. I hate having to wear my knee supports!

Good idea to talk to a doc first. I'd stay away from supports and instead work with a trainer or therapist to strengthen your knees and back. Strong core muscles will keep you from damaging other joints, so start there.

No, no, that's really interesting and something I didn't consider at all.

I wasn't really looking for braces - like the kind you would see after ACL surgery - but more like the sleeve kind that just added a little extra support while I'm building my endurance running. If that makes sense at all, lol.
