anyone find they lose slower than others?
like i've been doing this since january 15th and i've only managed 9lbs. like is this normal? or am i losing slower than others?
i see people on here for 2 months and they've lost about 15-20lbs.
i eat my TDEE -20% and i have a pretty active job 5 days a week (walking, standing a lot) and i have school 2 of those days so it's not like i'm not moving. my days off i do about 20-30 mins of cardio and add other activities like shopping.

i'm 5'6 197.2lbs and i started at 206.6

so my problem is i stuggle to lose a pound a week, i'm lucky if i lose half a pound a week.

i wanna lose atleast another 10-15 by mid july, but i feel like it wont happen.

please be nice, i just want to hear thoughts. i don't want to be bashed.

Nevermind the TDEE. I would approach things this way: use the MFP goal setting menu and set it to Sedentary. Now you have your Net Goal. Just include any cardo exercise you do in your daily food diary.

I've actually lost weight at a rate of around 1.3 lbs per week doing it this way, though I'm also weight training which has calorie burning benefits after working out too. Right now I'm at MFP's sedentary recommendation minus 500 cal.

Agree with the poster above. You're probably overestimating how "active" you are. Standing and walking at a job isn't the same as exercise and sitting in school is definitely sedentary.

I was running into your issue. I would lose and gain the same 15 lbs and couldn't seem to break through the scale wall. I'll know tomorrow if I make it through that wall as Friday is my scale day. BUT, what I did was buy a Bodymedia Link Armband. It tracks what I do, calories used, all day long - and It tracks my sleep and my food/water intake. So now there is no hiding my bad days and my good days from myself. After about 6 months I took all that data to my doctor. He has prescribed an Atkins style lifestyle which is super low carb. It seems to be working. Remember though, what works for me may not work for you. But I know my LINK really keeps me honest and going. Its a work in progress. I've had a life time of bad habits to break - binge eating, poor meal planning, following fad diets - I'm not doing that now. I'm chaning my life STYLE and eating healther for me. Some would say that Atkins is a fad. It would be if a person bought all those products they push. I don't and won't. I'm eating fresh veggies and protein and good for me fats. No more over boxed/canned foods, Eventually, we will have low amounts of cereals like oatmeal and whole wheat pasta but it's going to be rare and small amounts. I'm going to watch the sugar amounts and keep our fruit levels lower than they were and no more candy. I've increased my physical activity several times a week - running, HIITs plus other stuff that is family fun like bike rides and swimming. So, our lives are changing. I don't expect over night sucess and I know it may be a year before I'm at goal and that's fine with me. I didn't put this weight on over night and I have a life time of habits to revise. Slow works.

To me the obvious answer is.. you are not eating 20% less than your TDEE. Recalculate your numbers. The numbers don't lie. It could be that your TDEE is lower than you think. It could be that you are exercising/burning less than you think or you aren't tracking your calories correctly. It could be a combination off all of the above. Many entries on this site are incorrect. Some grossly incorrect. Weight every thing you eat. Don't estimate. Don't take other people's entries as fact. Verify everything. Everything you eat or drink needs to be accounted for. I'm not trying to bash you, just pointing out facts. 3500 calories is roughly a pound. If you are truly cutting that many calories on a weekly bases the weight will come off. You also need to factor any gains in LBM from the exercising that you do. It could play a role as well.

TDEE-20% doesn't work for me - my body doesn't seem to metabolize that many calories the way other people's do - I'm really active so it recommends I eat about 2400 a day!!! I've lost 22lbs (205-183) and 4inches off waist and 5 inches off hips since January 4 by adding food calories, subtracting cardio (not strength) calories, and netting 1000-1200. Before anybody jumps on me and says 1000 isn't enough: 1) I'd love to look at your dietician's license as you tell me all about what you know because the dietician I'm working with is just fine with what I'm doing (sorry for the snarkiness, but I've seen plenty of people on these boards attack other people's experiences) and 2) those are days when I burn four digits.

Every person has a unique body - it's all about finding what works for you.
    Good luck!
