the past couple of days i have felt my hunger levels jump up. i logged a pretty big burn yesterday, so i went ahead and went over my target while still staying under my maintenance. but the same thing is happening again today and i haven't even gone to the gym yet. i've been guzzling water all day so i know it's not thirst. should i eat a little bit more, or suck it up for the sake of my diet?

id say listen to your body. If your hungry, your hungry, just choose wisely like fruits and veggies0

is your stomach growling? can you imagine eating salad and being all "omg best thing ever"? if so, you're hungry, eat some lean protein to help fill you up. if not, its a craving dont give in and stay strong.
me personally -i have no self control. i cant listen to my body bc shes a lying beyotch. so i use the "oh yummmmm salad" test.
that's great, i need to remember that...a salad sounds delicious...0 -
When I get to the 'omg I need to eat anything now' point, I'm usually starving. And much more likely to eat too much. And I do like salad. But I see your point. There's a difference between craving something in particular, and just wanting to eat something.
But if you're not sure, drink a glass of water, if the feeling is still there, you're probably hungry.0 -

if your body is hungry you should always, always, always eat. diets are NOT about deprivation. Ever.0 -
I agree. If you're hungry, and you can't distract yourself out of it and it's not a craving, then eat. I've been doing fine with close to the same calorie level for a couple of months, but twice last week I woke up hungry in the middle of the night. This is unusual for me. So those two days in a row I ate a nutritionally sound snack at 2 am and so ate more than I wanted those days. It hasn't happened since.
I figure that things happen in your body. You lose weight unevenly and you can get hungry unevenly. As long as you're being healthy, and not getting ridiculous, go with the flow.0 -

Just to add... this post made me think of how unevenly children grow. They go through these growth spurts and it's totally unpredictable.. and one minute they're eating everything in the house and the next they're 2 inches taller.
And that, my friends, makes no sense. Same with weightloss. Just keep eating heathily, keep moving, and you'll get there. Scale and tape measure be damned.0 -
If you're getting hungry your deficit was probably too great to begin with. Set an achievable goal and then reduce it slowly as the weeks go by and your body gets used to not overeating like you (presumably) used to.0

thanks for your input everybody. i ended up having a small sandwich and felt a lot better, even though i was mad about going over my goal 2 days in a row. but, that's the nature of the beast, i guess.0
