So, I have been seriously considering taking the test and becoming a personal trainer. Does anyone have any tips, ideas or suggestions on the topic. The internet has loads of information, its hard to even decide which institution to go through.

National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and American Council on Exercise (ACE) are the most widely recognized and accepted certifications. I would look around at the gyms or studios near your house and see what they prefer - basically scope out your potential future employers! I obtained my certification from NASM and it was a very positive experience. I've also heard that NASM is the most rigorous, but I'm not sure if that is true since I have not seen the other programs.0

In addition to NASM and ACE, ACSM is another big one. All three are great. NASM is more sports oriented, while ACSM is more geared toward special populations.0

Checkout the NCCA website, http://www.credentialingexcellence.org/p/cm/ld/fid=121
and check out ACE, seems they don't mind sharing competitor information!
