Just wondering what us petite ladies have found to work for us-
Please list the stats that you feel comfortable sharing:
age, height,
weight, goal weight
calorie intake
exercise minutes/ type
do you eat back exercise calories
Also please include if you only monitered calories or if you also have a specific eating lifestyle such as vegetarian, paleo, well-balanced whole foods, no sugar etc.
I would love to have a place where us shorties can share our success stories since we tend to have a low range between TDEE and BMR unless we are very active.
For me:
5'1, 24 years old
111 lbs
gw: 104
* I generally eat between 1300-1500 calories
* exercise 4-6 days/week for 40 min to an hour (mostly running, strength and yoga)
* no specific diet plan but I pay attention to what ingredients are in my food: eating mostly whole unprocessed foods
* I tend to eat back some of my exercise calories
* I find I only drop weight when I am incredibly active (training for a marathon) but have trouble pairing down my food intake when I am mantaining a more day-to-day routine
Friend me if youd like

Eat between 1200-1600 cals/day
Exercise 30-60 minutes 4-6 days per week
I am vegetarian and track my sodium and sugar especially. I generally am set at 1200 calories, but eat back 60-100% of my exercise calories. I tend to be pretty active - working out at home right now, just finished a 6 week boot camp, teach dance, hula hoop, spin fire, and hike, climb, kayak, bike, etc. when weather permits.
I had a hard time losing weight for years until I started using MFP. I was taking in waaay more calories than I thought I was. I've always eaten pretty cleanly, but I love cheese and beer Now I only have a beer if I've earned it and have calories to spare!0 -
18, 5'3~ish
I'm currently around 198, and my goal weight for now is 120. I have a wide frame.
1300-1500 calories per day
My currently lifestyle requires that I walk about 40-60/5 days per week. I go to the gym 2-3 days per week, depending, and I stay there about 40 minutes.
I don't usually eat back exercise calories, I just do if I'm hungry.
I try to eat as vegetarian or vegan as possible, but I do eat seafood on occasion.
I also try to eat as clean as possible, but it's kinda hard when I live in a dorm.0 -
age, height - 40yrs old, 5' 2.9" tall
weight, goal weight - 144.4lbs ...GW - 135lbs...will reassess once I get there
calorie intake - between 1600 - 1750 depending on my activity for the day
exercise minutes/ type - 3 X/week 60 minutes (circuit strength training), 2 X/week cardio for 25-30 minutes
do you eat back exercise calories - not usually, I just make sure I net my BMR of 1379 cals. Sometimes that means eating a small portion of my exercise calories and sometimes not.
I try to make healthy choices with my foods.0 -
26, 5'3"
130 seems to be my go to weight if I don't do anything. But also the weight I can't stay away from for long. It's uber frustrating.
108-115 It's been a long time since I was 108, but I remember liking that size a lot. I'm not sure if I would look good at that weight now though since I'm older
I'm a two faced eater. During the day I'm all about vegetables and water. Once the sun goes down, the sugar addict comes out and I eat breads and sweets and other crap. Try to stay around 1200 cals a day
I've been doing the Insanity DVD program for about 2 months now and am seeing serious results! I'm positive if I could get a hold on my dumb nighttime eating habits, I'd be in bad *kitten* shape by now... but alas. Soon. I also run (on the treadmill now that it's cold... come on summer!!), eliptical, bike, step classes, and Bollywood dance workouts. But nothing consistently except for Insanity.
As for eating back my exercise calories, I try not to. If I exercise in the evening there's FAR LESS chance I'll eat/binge on sugary junk. I think it's the endorphins/serotoniin I'm craving.0 -
37, 5'2"
CW = 131, GW = 122
Calories per day: on a good day 1500, on a bad day a bazillion!
Exercise: I try to get 4-5 days a week, cardio and strength for up to 2 hours, usually closer to 1. I teach spin, do step, Jillian Michaels, elliptical. I like doing weights a lot.
I'm not a strict calorie tracker so I don't always know if I've eaten back exercise calories. I am very sensitive to low blood sugar, so I try to go more by how my body is feeling. That way if I need calories I just eat them.0 -
36 yo 5ft 3" 1500-2000 calories no goal weight as Im working on inches lost not weight lost.
Lifting heavy on a linear programme 5x5 3 times per week and changing that to a 3 day split next week 3-8 reps
Cardio is 30-60 minutes either walking or group fitness class 3 times a week
Its been very successful, my body shape has changed drastically since Jan the 2nd. Heavy lifting rocks!0 -
almost 5'3 here. atletic build I eat between 1500-1700. I have 4 more lbs to lose.0

5:3"
51 years old
starting weight of 146
Have now reached my goal weight of 125
Started out eating only 1000 calories a day
Then I gradually increased my calories by 100 more a day and stayed at that level for 2 weeks before increasing again.
I am now maintaining at 1650-1700
I walk 4 times a week for about 25 minutes
I eat whatever I want0 -
25, 5'1'',
123, 120-125
1600 calories/day
exercise approx 330 per week/ weight lifting (heavy), running (3k-5k twice a week), yoga
Do I eat back exercise cal's: not on purpose. If I go over it's no big deal
Typically monitor calories along with 98% of only eating things will less than 3-5 ingredients on the label.
My goal is to put on muscle. I'm a weight lifter at heart, not a runner. I run for overall health and wellbeing, not because I like it haha.0 -
5'2-1/4" here (hey, I'm not ashamed, so why round up!)
Don't have a goal weight as I'm working on losing inches not necessarily weight, although looking to get that down by 30 pounds.
Generally eat between 1500-1900, usually right around 1750.
I'm at the gym about 5 days a week – usually do a half hour of either endurance or interval cardio, either spinning bike or elliptical. Mix in 30-40 minutes of weights, rotating from legs to arms. Walk my dog a couple times a day if I can squeeze in the time.
Next week mixing it up – starting to mix in spin classes in place of my own personal spinning bike interval time. Also starting to work with a personal trainer 2x a week. Ready to take this to a new level – friend me if you like. I'm just starting to be more vocal with the forum side of MFP.0 -
age: 35
height: 5'2"
weight: around 100 (not trying to lose)
calorie intake: 1950 to 2100, but sometimes more.
exercise minutes/ type: I lift weights 3 days a week for 30 minutes. I also dance.
I don't do the exercise calories thing because I have that all factored into my calories already. If I exercise a lot I will eat more that day (or a day nearby to it).0 -
Right-o, here are my stats:
5'0", 34 years old
SW: 117
CW: 114
GW: 110 (I'm more interested in toning and lowering my body fat)
I typically eat between 1200-1500 and I practice yoga daily, usually for an hour. Sometimes 75 minutes. I'm planning to add some pilates into the mix, and maybe some running in a couple months.
I don't follow a specific diet plan, other than just trying to eat clean and cutting down on the processed foods. I'm not aiming for 100% clean, maybe 75-80%. That'd be great for me. I have no desire to give up white rice or peanut butter cups. ;P
I do eat back some of my exercise calories. Not all of them but definitely some. I go by how my body feels. If it wants food, I eat! But I seem to fall into that camp of people whose appetite is suppressed by yoga.0 -
Age 36. 5' 2". Pear shaped
SW 121
CW 117
GW 112 I think!!
Currently aiming for 1400 a day although I tend to do weekly targets as some days I may be 100 under but have those at the weekend as extras. I am never under the weekly goal. However I do eat what I want within my calorie limit. I cannot cut chocolate or a glass of wine out of my life!! I am active in that I have 3 kids and generally running round all day long. 5 days a week I do Julian 30ds but that's the only proper exercise I get. I don't eat back exercise calories.0 -
Just starting out at this again!
Height - 5'0, Age 31
SW - 125.6 (though I think I was just bloated that day)
CW - 124.0
GW - 115 (you smaller ladies are inspiring) Maybe once I hit 115 I can make a new goal of 110.
My goal on here says 1200 calories but I'm finding I never feel full on that. I need to eat better foods. Going shopping this weekend. I'm trying to hit the gym 3-4 days a week and do classes like RIPPED, Zumba, Core Shred and CX Works. I realize I need to up the workouts if I want to see a difference. Oh and yes I have been eating back my calories burned the past week. Hopefully as I get used to a smaller calorie intake I won't feel the need to do this so much.0 -
age, height: 24, 5'2" hourglass shape
weight, goal weight: 105, 95
calorie intake: 1200, mostly fruits, veg, nuts, and beans. Never bread, rice, potatoes, tortillas, etc. i have a weakness for sugar though!
exercise minutes/ type: 7 days a week. A combination of insanity, p90x, trail running, HIIT on the bike & elliptical machines at the gym...free weights, and weight machines as well. Most days I work out twice a day. 1 or two days a week i have active recovery days.
do you eat back exercise calories: i have no idea. i don't pay attention to that0 -
35 yrs old, 5'2" mostly hourglass shape (will be more so when I lose my belly)
My current weight is 142.6 (I started at 148.8), and my goal weight is between 120 and 125 lbs.
I eat around 1400 calories a day (sometimes a bit less, sometimes a bit more). I managed just 2 days on the 1200 calories that MFP initally computed for me.
I'm just starting exercising. I try to do 30 minutes on my elliptical twice a week, walk for 30 minutes (over my lunch hour) 2 or 3 times a week, and get out in my garden at least 2 - 4 hours over the weekend days. I do eat back all of my exercise calories.0 -

For me:
5'1, 24 years old
111 lbs
gw: 104
* I generally eat between 1300-1500 calories

I'm a lot older than most pp on this 58 and happy to be breathing
weight loss is not my ife it is just somethng i want0 -
age, height: 24, 5'1"
weight, goal weight : 122.5, 114
calorie intake: Not good at being consistent on this; I tend to have a good time with beer and going out on the weekends! And I never turn down free food.
However I try to get <1680 net calories a day.
exercise minutes/ type : Running, 3-4 times a week usually a 20-30 minute workout (varies between endurance and speed workouts). I am dipping my toes into doing weight training a bit.
do you eat back exercise calories: Again not awesome at consistency. I might or I might not.
I try to eat nourishing meals, but I definitely eat a small amount of junk food almost every day. Meals are generally healthy, and snacks are not. I tend to get bored at work and eat then, or I don't have food at work and I can't go home for another hour...grab a Klondike bar! Just bringing lunch is not enough.
I also think my weight is not too high, and I am certainly in a healthy range, but! For such a tiny person, I have an overlarge chest===>neck and back problems. I'm hoping to lose some weight there, and reduce my cup size0 -
59 years, 5'1"
Starting weight-188
Current weight-126
Goal weight-120
Calories-approx. 1500
Exercise-90 minutes elliptical/treadmill walking uphill/stair climbing/weight lift every other day-cardio- 6x a week
Eat back about 2/3 of my exercise calories-more if I'm hungry
I eat mostly whole foods with some chocolate sometimes0 -
41 years old
Starting weight 147.. Yikes
Current weight 137
Goal weight 130
Calories 1200
Exercise 5-6 a day.. JM body revolution.. Have three kids so rest days just chase around them..
Not on specific plan.. But try to eat whole foods.. I loooove carbs.. So change to all brown and whole!
Love wine..
I rarely eat calories back.. But when I am bad I go way over..0 -
42, 5'1"
92-95, 92-95
1500-2100
Weights 3-4 times per week, usually 1 hour; 45 minutes on elliptical 2 times per week, walk about 5 miles daily just as part of routine.
Usually eat back exercise calories (hence the 2100 calorie days).0 -
Thanks for sharing everyone - you are all such an inspiration!! I love hearing how other petite people overcome the smaller wiggle room we have with excess intake. I was shocked to read some of your ages after looking at your profile pic btw...amazing.0
-
Those of you eating 1200, did you calculate your BMR? Just curious why you decided on that number and if youre fat loss vs muscle loss.0
