So here I am posting on here for the first time. I have been a community lurker, but never felt the need to voice an opinion. My profile says little about myself, perhaps that too shall change soon. Suffice to say that I am in the military and female. I was talking to my neighbour one day a few weeks ago and she was complaining that she just didn't feel good about herself. I chuckled because I felt the same as well.
At my wedding in 2008 (prior to joining the military) I weighed in at 225 lbs, standing at a massive 5'6" (ok that was sarcastic!). I can say that I lost a little weight before going to basic training and got myself down to about 185-190lbs. I lost about 10 lbs during basic training, and felt great. I flourished once I was living on my own again and reached my goal weight of 145lbs. From July 2008 until Spring 2010 I went from a size 22 to a size 6. To this date.... I have no idea how I did it! I exercised regularly, ate healthily, but then so have I since then! The weight has slowly crept back on me and I found myself this Christmas on a cruise weighing 185lbs again... back up to a size 14 or so. SO FRUSTRATED!!
Now despite physical training being a fairly large part of my job (we do PT 4-5 days a week and it is intense - for me at least!), I eat quite healthy (healthier now mind you than I did at Christmas) I was a bit surprised that I had found myself 35lbs heavier than I was 2 years ago.
So I made a plan, my neighbour (who is in her 40's - I am 30) and I are going to the gym daily. We mix it up everyday. One day it's elliptical, one day bike, a walk or circuit training, we do core work, glute work, light weights, and we always stretch well. Now I do push a lot harder than she does, and I also do PT at work as well as the evenings with her - so most days I exercise twice a day, coupled with a job that can be physically demanding.
We started up 2 weeks ago (28th of Feb). She has lost about 2 lbs, I have lost about 3lbs. A slow start, and not the results I was hoping for.. but a start nonetheless!
