i have been working out cardio for about 30 minutes and 30 minutes of weights about 5-6 days a week for the past 3 weeks, along with eating almost perfectly healthy, no canned or packaged foods, all raw fresh ingredients... now i look like im losing weight but the scale said in one week i gianed 10 lbs. i know initially u gain muscle mass as you lose weight and that usually accounts for the weight gain. then the second week it said i had lost all the 10 lbs and then some, and then this past week says i gained it all back. its pretty annoying so i have decided to not weight myself at all.
anyone else have this happen and decided to ditch the scale?

I would ditch the scale. Depending on where your starting weight is, the scale can either be a major motivator or a major demotivator. Everyone is a little different. I look better now at 192 than i did 2 years ago at 183

I have started lifting weights and doing cardio 50 minutes 5x a week. I haven't lost any weight after doing this for almost 3 months. in fact, I have gained 3 lbs. I dont have very much fat to lose, maybe 10 lbs. I think the best indicator is usually just taking pictures and looking to see a difference. Even measurements can be frustrating as they include muscle increase into their measurement.

Lastly, don't fret. It has only been 3 weeks and you most likely wont start to see results for a few more. You most likely are losing fat and becoming stronger and more healthy. Congratulations on 3 weeks of consistency.
  • well, yet another week and the scale hasnt budged. i dont get it, i eat healthy, workout lift weights do 30 min or more of cardio a day and i havent lost a single pound. just gained 6.. could i have already hid a plateau?? what are your guy's thoughts? i feel as if i am getting more toned but my overall goal is to lose weight. not redistribute it. im starting to feel discouraged. its been about a month now...

Eating healthy doesn't mean you are eating the correct calories to lose weight for yourself. How many calories are you eating in a day?
  • honestly havent been counting. but i eat 2 scrambled eggs with mushrooms, spinach onions bell peppers everyday, snack might be a handful of almonds, drink ALOT of water, lunch is eaither a salad with just romaine corn chicken black beans homemade salsa and cilantro or one serving of chicken breast and some veggies. and for dinner every night the last 2 weeks is one serving of baked chicken breast veggies and maybe once a week one serving of whole wheat pasta with the chicken .. so veggie wise there are carbs but i really try to not eat breads pasta, use flour etc. i dont use sugar or salt in cooking... if i do occasionally have any carbs there are whole wheat. and after dinner if i am still hungry i have eaither a smoothie of blueberries bananas milk.. or a green smoothie with veggies and green fruits..

I know this sounds simple but have you changed the batteries? And how old is the scale? Sometimes they do some whacky things...
  • ive been using the scale at the gym... its the manual kind not a digital...

    Closed diary.
No mention of calorie intake or expenditure.
Weighing while wearing clothes and shoes at varying times.

Yeah, we can't actually help you like that. Open your diary, and get a scale for your home.
