Exercising with a cold

Hey,

I have had a cold for 8 days. I feel fairly rotten but it hasn't kept me away from work (I'm working from home today).

What level of exercise should I be doing?

I went to my BoxFit class on Monday and found it really hard work. I went to Pilates on Wednesday and found that to be OK. My cold seems to have gotten worse since then so I haven't been to the gym but I really want to get back to it.

Should I just keep away until my cold has gone or will a bit of exercise do me good?

Obviously I don't want to loose any fitness or gain any weight. I have been trying to keep close to my daily calorie goal.

My doctor told me that exercise is good for your immune system. That said, play it by ear... maybe cut back and bit but keep moving... make sure you are getting plenty of rest and fluids. Do more pilates, walking light weights etc and not so much high impact heavy cardio stuff until you feel better. If you have a fever or bronchitis etc, no workout.. but if it is just above the neck head cold... go ahead.
