I need some advice! :)

Hi, I'm Matt.
I downloaded this App last summer, and was using it diligently. I found it hard to follow at first, especially because I was travelling a lot, and was always with other people. I tend to let other people influence my habit in eating things I shouldn't, or over-eating...especially since I'm usually the overweight friend of the group.
I exercise almost every day for 30 - 45 minutes. I usually aim for 45.
I try to avoid carbohydrates at night, even though that is seemingly impossible right now because my family is Italian and there's always pasta or rice around for dinner (I'm moving out this summer, so I'm stoked for the amount of control I have).
My major question is,
if I'm working out, do I add those calorie deficits to my total? Or does the App calculate that for my as it presumes I'll be working out for the amount of times I put in my profile? I'm just a little confused, and I don't want to over calculate my lost calories, because then I won't be eating enough!
Thanks for reading, let me know what you think.
