Male or Female - female
Age 49
Height - 5' 0"
Current weight (if you feel comfortable) -107
Goal weight - 90
Number of calories you eat - 800
Number of calories you NET - this confuses me so I can't say
Number of calories you typically burn each day for exercise AND if you eat them back - 300 and I don't eat them back
I figured it this way: My BMR is 1200. You have to have a daily deficit of 500 calories a day to lose one pound a week. 1200 - 500 = 800. If I eat 1200 a day I'll only end up gaining and I've worked too hard to get where I am today. I'm afraid to eat too many calories.
You don't take your deficit off your BMR, you take it off your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) which is your BMR plus your normal daily activity plus your exercise. You're eating far, far too little.
With so few pounds to your goal weight, you should only be eating to lose .5 pounds a week, anyway. 250 calories below your tdee, or maybe 10% below since your so tiny already.
You've no idea how petrified I am to eat more a day. I know it's not normal.
I was eating about 400 a day but did end up malnourished and in the hospital for 14 days with an NG tube pumping 24/7. I upped my calories and joined a gym after I got home. This way I think I'll be okay and avoid having to return to the hospital. I really don't understand myself sometimes.0 -

Yeah, I was gonna reply until a) I saw how much you eat and b) I saw you feel you need to net under your BMR. My daily intake would scare the crap outta you.0

Not trying to be rude here, but you should seek professional help. I assume that you had some during/after your stay in hospital?0 -

I'd agree. Whilst I am afraid to increase my calories above 1500 so I can understand to some degree, you have to realise that what you're eating is far, far too little. My nearly 2 year old has just eaten about 300 calories for her breakfast! So please get some help.0 -

I know I know... follow you BMR and TDEE which I am... I only have 10 pounds to lose and I feel like Ive been overeating.... I have been having serious munchies lately so I just need some comparisons:
I highly doubt you are overeating with a net of only 1000-1200 a day. It's more likely you are severely under-eating for the amount of exercise you are claiming to do above and beyond your normal activity, especially if you are feeling hungry.

I workout 3-4 times a week and typically burn anywhere from 175-500 calories depending on what I do. I tend to try to eat back about 50-75% of those burned calories0 -
I have been doing this for about 2 months and lost 5 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is very frustrating! I am thinking about having my thyroid checked to see if there is a problem there
5 pounds in 2 months is good! also, i'm sure that you are losing inches - have you measured that?
keep going. patience is KEY0 -

Yeah, what they said--you are eating way UNDER, not over.
Female
Age: 48
Height: 5'3"
CW: 110
GW: 110
Calories Eaten: 2000-2400
Calories Burned: 200-600
NET calories: about 1800
I eat most if not all of my exercise calories--my current goal is 1840.
I work out 4-5 days per week (2-3 days weights/ 2-3 days cardio), walk every day, but sometimes just with the dog (a corgi who isn't very fast because his legs are so short and he has to stop to smell and/or pee on EVERYTHING). I'm in maintenance, but typically netted at least 1350 even when I was losing a pound a week (I ate less then, but averaged about 1600 when I was working out 2 days a week, then 1800-1900 when I started working out more), and I'm in menopause.
MFP is set up so that you eat back ALL of your exercise calories and does not advocate that anyone NET less than 1200 calories. And MFP isn't as accurate as it could be because it doesn't take body fat into account when telling you what to eat or how much you burn. Go to a gym and find that out, or use one of the online calculators, but regardless, do not NET less than 1200 unless you are much smaller or much older than I am.0 -

Food. avg around 2000 calories.
Net. 1620 calories.
Calories burnt through exercise. avg 400-500 (I run about 30 miles per week, plus some strength training and yoga - I ALWAYS eat back my exercise cals throughout the week)
When I was on my last 10 pounds, I was netting a little less - around 1440. You need to eat more. That is why you constantly feel like you need to eat. Eat more, and you will also feel better, have better, more productive workouts and not lose as much lean body mass with the rest of your fat.0 -

My diary is also open to friends on my list. Does anyone have the same stats as I do?
Want a fish for a friend? haha:flowerforyou:
