Lifting at home

I need some good ideas to cheaply do strength training from home; any thoughts? Right now I do floor exercises [sit ups push ups leg lifts etc...] but I know I need to actually LIFT weight, to tone my abs thighs and upper arms. Important to remember when replying: I have no money to spend on equipment.

[Should I try bench pressing my cats? j/k  ]

Something you may want to look into is ballet conditioning. It incorporates a lot of leg work and for a lot of it, you can use a chair for balance. Not much equipment needed. Aside from youtube, collage video allows you to see clips of the videos to see if its what you want. You can also check amazon for used DVD's. Another option may be your local library, which may have DVD's you can check out. I hope this helps.

Look into Your Body is a Gym or look at nerdfitness.com. You can get resistance bands for pretty cheap at Walmart, too. Blogilates.com has some good stuff, too. (She's PopPilates on YouTube.)

<--That's my barbell in my bedroom. If you are looking to get into heavy lifting, you can probably find used equipment for cheap.

I just started Jillian Michaels 30 DS to see if I would like weights/lifting.. I do. Once I finish with her, I will look in to something at my gym or more online tutorials..

Do you have "freecycle" in your area? It's an online group like a free craig's list. You have to offer something for free to start and then you can post a request for items. Some one may be cleaning out their basement and may be happy to have you pick up dumb bells or whatever that they have no use for.
  • Hi!

I would reccomend you to check out Sixpackshortcuts on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/user/sixpackshortcuts
He got many videos on workouts, food and such..

Also just search fo 'bodyweight exercises' should get you a load of videos with many exercises you can do at home with no gear, or be creative and use a tree branch or something as a chinn-up bar while out jogging..

Remember to eat properly (and enough) to gain the right kind of weight.. ;)
