Hi I like many other people have been alloted 1200 calories Working well for me . I have lost about 15 lbs would like to increase to1300 cals a day as i have been feeling like i have no energy. I have upped my cal intake to appx 1300 I work out daily and also do stregnth training 3 to 4 times a week. I am petrified at gaining weight I am just starting to like how i look. Any thoughts about not regaining weight Has anyone been successful upping their calories without gaining weight . I would still like to lose a little bit more . Any insights would be appreciated Thank you jess

I have upped my calories from the MFP allotted 1200 to 1400 after figuring out the BMR and TDEE - 15%. In the simplest way I've understood these numbers: BRM is the number of calories your body needs just to function if you were to do nothing but lay in bed. TDEE is the number of calories your body needs in order to maintain your current weight. Knowing the TDEE will help you create a deficit in calories (the -15% or 20% or 5 or 10), which will put you UNDER the number needed to maintain.
I switched to this and lost weight. Granted I am only beginning, but the 1200 was making me feel fatigued and hungry all the time. By upping the cal intake I started losing weight and was able to go harder at the gym without feeling like I was going to faint. Overall I would say that this is a good strategy and that it has helped me, so I would recommend increasing slowly to get to your TDEE - %. There are calculators online to help you figure the numbers out.

Hi Jess!
First of all, congrats on the great job you have been doing!
My first question is, do you eat back your exercise calories? That is how MFP assumes people will behave. If you don't, I would recommend either eating them back, or up your calories.
If you don't, then take a look at what you are eating. You could have 1200 cals of candy and junk, or 1200 cals of healthy protein, veggies, fruits, etc. If you are hitting your cal limit but eating unhealthy food, you will not feel well.
If you have been eating healthfully already, then I'd say try upping your cals--but be aware you will probably slow your weight loss (though you still won't gain, I don't think).
