I've posted my general green smoothie recipe in a few different threads and have had some follow-up requests on info for it. While I was making one the other night I decided to take pics of the whole process to post here for fun.
So, here's the recipe outline(makes two big smoothies):
1 1/4 cup water
1 cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
1 scoop (28g) Unsweetened Vanilla Protein Powder
85g Spinach
71g Kale
85-100g Carrots
75-90g Bell Pepper (red or green, I prefer red, but buy whichever is cheaper)
90-105g Radishes
25-28g Avocado (about ¼ of a medium sized one)
55-65g Frozen banana (about half an average banana, just buy them cheap, peel ‘em, and keep them in a bag in the freezer)
55-65g Frozen fruit (rotated between strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and pineapple, just by whatever is on sale and stick it in bags in the freezer)
Juice of one lemon
And the pics of the process:
Measure out your fresh spinach:
And then your awesome kale:
Stuff it into the bottom of the blender, nice and tight:
Your favorite protein powder goes in next:
One cup of almond milk. Action shot!
Then some water goes in - do it after the milk and it you'll be rinsing out the measuring cup!
Pulse it a few times:
Once it looks like this, hit the highest setting and let it go:
While that is blending, measure out all of the veggies (I just use the measuring cup again to hold 'em on the scale):
Stop blending the greens once they look like this:
Add in all the veggies, you can see it's a very precise process:
Hit the highest setting and let it go again, while that's blending, measure out the frozen fruit. So little fruit! Just enough for some sweetness:
Mmmm...fresh lemon. Makes the flavors really pop and also keeps it looking pretty if you want to make it in advance:
Blended all nice and smooth:
And dispensed into two big plastic bottles, another action shot:
And your delicious smoothie is all set to drink. This particular one had 216 calories, 4.9g fat, 1155mg potassium, 28.6g carbs, 8g fiber, 11.8g sugars, 16.9g protein, 303% Vit A, 248% Vit C, 32% calcium, and 28.2% iron per serving.
On no! But now you have this dirty blender carafe!
For quick clean up, just add a couple drops of dish detergent:
And fill it with some water (not too full!):
And give it a whirl in there:
Dump out the water and you're all set, just finish rinsing and you're good to go:
And there you go, start to finish. Now get with the smoothie making.
