I am new to this and know I will not need to be drinking sodas. How in the world can I stop drinking or cut back drinking sodas? Every time I go several hours with out, I get terrible head aches and very grouchy. What should I do?

Wean yourself off slowly. Why do you think you need to stop completely?
  • I just cut out the sodas cold turkey and started drinking water. The headaches only lasted for a few days and now, about 4 months later, I actually don't miss the sodas. And if I do have one, I don't like it as much as I used to. The first few days will be difficult, but it's very much worth it.

I quit cold turkey for a whole month, now I can have one as an occasional treat (maybe 1 a week if that) but I knew in my case it had to be none at all in the beginning or I would give into wanting more.
This is what worked for me...
    1) I drank tons of water so I wouldn't be thirsty
    2) I took a couple Midols the first week (they have a small amount of caffeine & helped keep the headaches away)
    3) I also drank 1 glass of tea for caffeine & to get a break from just water.

Everyone is different & you have to figure out what will work for you. You're welcome to add me as a friend, I'm always open to having friends who really want to make positive changes.
  • When I quit soda, I took a couple midol those first few days and started drinking sparkling water. I learned it wasn't the sweet that my body wanted, but the carbonation! Not sure where you're located but I buy 1 liter bottles of sparkling water at Aldi for $.69 otherwise I've seen them at Walmart too!

Keep your head up & good luck!
