Hi, I'm msspriss.

I recently gained some weight, gained a little more before that, and before that I was in shape.

I didn't gain the freshman 15, I got the freshman 20. This was due to a badly matched birth control pill that make me gain like crazy, cry all the time, and gave me mood swings that encouraged emotional eating, which I did. I lost 10 of it over the next few years, leaving me with a net gain of 10 lbs. My junior year, I gained 5-10lbs. I went through a tough breakup, did an internship where we ate out constantly, and generally had a lot of stress. This is when my thighs started rubbing together, destroying my pants and making wearing skirts impossibly uncomfortable.

The summer after my junior year, I met my darling husband (got happy), we dated (ate out A LOT), I quit smoking (got happy, didn't need them!), got of birth control (it was screwing me up), and started my senior year. I gained 15 lbs! The jeans I bought (they discontinued the model, so I bought up what they had left in my size) at the end of my junior year, I gave to my little sister (in high school). I was heartbroken. I bought new jeans, and I went up three pants sizes (although my dress/shirt size has hardly changed).

So I realized what was going on. I quit going out to eat, which was easy because it was expensive anyway. I quit drinking sodas, which I used to do and drop 5 lbs the next week (no change in weight this time!). I started drinking water, no change. I started taking the stairs and walking, and trying to eat "better", no change.

I finally went on a short fast, eased myself back on to food, and started exercising, as much as my schedule allows. I lost 5 lbs in the week before and week of my fast, I want to lose 13 more. I am counting my calories and exercising. I want to fit into jeans I was wearing this time LAST YEAR, and I don't want my thighs to rub together anymore.

I am still super busy, graduating in two weeks and then hitting grad school full force, while trying to hold down a job, learn a foreign language or two, pay off credit card debt, and try and eat healthy and fit in workouts. Oh yes, and try to hold down a household in the meantime. (Husband wonders why I don't have time to clean house. Hmph.)

Welcome..... I am new to this as well but have been counting calories for about 3 weeks and it has worked. I have lost a total of 12 lbs since March 10th so I am really excited and hope you can achieve your goal as well.
