How do you eat your grapefruit?

Just a silly question. I was peeling my grapefruit the other day and my coworker was looking at me in a very strange way. I asked her what was wrong and she said she had never seen anyone eat a grapefruit that way. I was so confused by what she meant, how else could you eat a grapefruit? She said she cuts it in half and then uses a spoon to scoop sections out? Huh? I peel it and eat it like an orange.
So how do you eat your grapefruit?

I cut mine in half and use a grapefruit spoon. I've never heard of peeling it.0

I peel it like and orange and eat. sometimes I slice it and eat it...I didn't know there was a wrong way to eat a piece of fruit...0

Cut it in half, sprinkle it with brown sugar, broil it until bubbly, then eat it with a spoon. It gets soooooo juicy.0

Bahaha! Yuppies! I only ever saw the grapefruit spoon on Dirty Dancing and when working for Crate & Barrel.
I eat my friggin' grapefruit like an orange. I eat all the fiber.
Oh, and I love yuppies. I try to be like them0 -
I peel and eat now, but when I grew up, the household ate them the slice-and-scoop way. There were even special little serrated pointy spoons for the job. Maybe it's a generational thing.0

I cut it in half and spoon it out. I've tried just eating it like an orange when I didn't have a spoon, but the membrane is just too tough for me to enjoy it that way.
Edit: no, I don't use a special spoon. Ain't nobody got time for that! I use a real spoon.0 -

I don't eat the membrane. I just peel that off as well, just like I do with an orange.0 -

I got lucky. My grapefruit spoon came with my house. It now stays at my desk at work, which is where I eat my grapefruit.0 -
I'm not familiar with people eating it like an orange, I might try that!
I sometimes have it cut in half and eat with a teaspoon, though it's tricky. Lately I've been buying ready prepared grapefruit segments in juice in a plastic tub - much easier!0 -
I grew up eating it with a spoon, but I find that wastes too much fruit, so now I peel them like an orange, but I don't eat the thick membranes. It makes them time consuming and messy, but It's good to slow down and concentrate on what you put in your mouth, right?0

I either cut mine in half and dig it out with a grapefruit spoon or peel it like an orange and also peel off the outer cover of those slices because to me its bitter. I prefer the ruby red grapefruits.0

I don't have any grapefruit spoons...but I have a gadget that loosens the sections from the membranes so you can eat with a regular spoon. Or I peel it with a knife and just dice it and eat it that way. Ruby Red ones rock!0

This is exactly what I do. But I do eat the membrane of the orange because it isn't bitter the way a grapefruit membrane is.0 -
I cut off the peel then cut it up into little pieces, drain out the juice, then pour some splenda over it and eat the chunks with a fork.0

Either in half with a spoon(no sugar, it's so yummy as is) or peeled like an orange. My husbad's grandfather cuts his in half, drizzles honey over it, then heats it in the microwave. I tried it a few time - not bad.0

I peel it like an orange too! I have gotten many strange looks over the years, but I think it is the best way to eat it.
In college, our dining hall only had grapefruit already cut in half so that got pretty messy. I refuse to use a spoon for citrus!

Chew through the fiber and eat it like you mean it. I feel like I am wasting half of it if I eat it with a spoon.0

We had special grapefruit spoons growing up. I loved those spoons! I use a paring knife and a smaller spoon (ice cream sundae spoon actually)0 -

My kids had to ask me what it was when we found it. I hadn't seen one in ages! I tend to eat as much as I can with the grapefruit spoon, then I hold it (and my head) over my trash can at work and squeeze the rest of the juice into my mouth.
It's not exactly graceful, but it's yummy!
And yes, ruby reds are the best!0 -
I used to hate grapefruit because I ate it like an orange and that fibrous membrane-y part is bitter. But my friend introduced me to eating it with a spoon, and now I buy a huge bag of grapefruit!0

I peel it, peel the membrane off too. Yummy!0
