I love the burn.

<Toni Horton> bun, bun burnnnnn...... <Toni Horton>

But after a while, even when you up the wight the burn is gone. I get the burn in some muscle groups but not others. My legs are stronger than my upper body and I still feel the burn in my legs but I dont feel the burn in biceps, shoulders and triceps. I feel it in the chest but only through pushups, not through bench.

So whats the verdict on burn? Do you have to feel it to have en effective workout?

By burn I mean post-workout, recovery burn. While I am doing the exercise I do feel the burn, but missing the post-workout recovery burn.

My body adapts pretty easily. So as long as im improving on what I do then im happy.

Muscle soreness is not a reliable indicator of an effective workout

    This.

I only get recovery burn, or DOMS, when I change my routine to target a new muscle group that I normally don't. After one or two workouts, though, I'll no longer get DOMS, except for maybe very slight DOMS when I've upped weight.

I deem it effective if it satisfies some kind of fitness-related goal.
