Lately i have been going to the gym and i realize when i don't eat before i go to workout i suffer greatly. Sometimes when i eat food such as a turkey sandwich then i go workout an 1 hr later it still does not help me, and i feel weak and tired. Then their was one time i ate some rice with pinto beans and chicken then i had so much energy. I want to try other food that you guys think will help me get better workout result when it comes to lifting weights and cardio workouts.

i make my overnight oats in a jar with 1 scoop protein powder. right before my workout, i eat about 4 or 5 spoonfuls and then head to my basement to kill myself with my workout... the oatmeal and protein gives me incredible energy . i then eat the rest for breakfast with 2 additional hard-boiled eggs (whites only) for breakfast.
i posted the recipe on my blog: http://www.lifeinprogress.ca/lifeinprogress/2013/01/ola-new-year-new-workout-routine-healthy-eats.html
for me, i have to eat before a workout otherwise i feel dizzy and sick. i also eat a carb/protein rich snack before my workout and it fuels me throughout the most intense workouts.0 -

Well, you found something that works so just stick with it!
From what I've read it seems important to have a readily available carb source (like rice or fruit) within 45 minutes of a vigorous workout.
I like to have a calorie dense fruit like banana or mango and a few nuts. The fruit gives a little water and electrolyte boost, too.0
