Working out in an apartment?

Hello there! Do you guys have any tips on working out in an apartment? I live on the second floor and I get so cautious that I'll be jumping too loud for the neighbors downstairs especially if I wanna do workout videos. We do have a little fitness center here too, but the thing is me and my husband's schedules are switched around due to working 3rd shift!
I am also new here too! I'm really looking forward to reading all the success stories and finding motivation to get me back on a healthy life. Hope soon I can post my own success story! Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Jillian michaels has a yoga video that is good and doesn't involve jumping. I use it while my kids are asleep because I don't want to make noise jumping around. Good workout without jumping. Maybe try YouTube and find some other yoga or Pilates videos. Weights would also be quiet with squats and lunges to add more burn.0

It depends a lot on the construction of your building. In older, wooden buildings, it is the shear movement that makes the most noise as the floorboards creek and such.
Yoga is probably your best bet. For strength, you could use a physiology ball and resistance bands.0 -

thank you! I'll definitely look into that!0 -
Exercise during the day. Just try not to jump hard.
Do a video in your apartment... or head down to the workout room when you get home from work.0 -

I just emailed by neighbor and confirmed whether he could hear my running on my treadmill and blasting music. He appreciated that I wrote him and we worked it out that way. So you can always try talking/writing to your neighbor to ask.0

Or pilates! There are lots of exercises that don't involve jumping around too much, and you can always substitute just walking in place if you're worried.0

I'm working out completely at home, fitnessblender has great 'quite cario' workouts that don't involve a lot of jumping around. I would love to be friends with another non gym goer!0

I'd agree to check with him. I worked out daily (with lots of jumping) in a 2nd floor apartment. I just made sure it was during reasonable hours and also had to cut the neighbors below some slack when I'd otherwise complain. It was worth it!0

I use a mini-stepper with a carpet square underneath it (100+ year old house with creaky hardwood floors). My landlady lives below me and can barely hear me.0

When I lived on the third floor with tissue paper walls, I used to run the stairs...until I hurt my knee and couldn't do it anymore.
If you are in better shape-even buying some ankle/wrist weights and then doing the stairs 20 times....well, it can get some cardio going!0 -
