    I'm back after a long hiatus, so basically starting over.

    Stuff that's worked for me:
    1. Log everything you eat and all the exercise you do.
    2. Don't beat yourself up for backsliding.
    3. Everyone is different and what works for you won't necessarily work for everyone else.
    4. Portion control helps.

    EXACTLY!!! You need to feel that you are going to do this and might!!!! And like @doomspark says, you must keep on top of this and if you mess up, no worries!!! One day or even a week will not kill you.

    Hope doesn't get you much, you have to want it, plan it and work for it. It's a journey that you have to take one step at a time. Be positive, and if you have a set back, DON'T GIVE UP. This is a great place to stay on track, the people on here are supportive and will help you through it.
