And i dont have the time to lose it!!!! I am as trained as I can be I know I can do the half marathon(I am often hearing thats what u need to be able to do to finish a full) and I know if i set my heart toi it i can finish. Its been rough training over winter for this race and im not the only one saying it sadly...everyone is finally able to get out and run and time has really flown by. I am getting that evil voice inside my head saying I cant!!!! Is there anyway to crush that little "fat joani" monster in my head and let the "fit joani machine say its just a marathon....you can do it...I know once I finish Ill have run a marathon and have a PR thats a nice thought but its just this mental road block thats sticking me now!!!!

You CAN do it - you are a strong WOMAN!!!!!!! If you kept up with training all winter, and you have been training outside this spring - girl you got this. Yes, you can tell that non fit person to go to the back because the STRONGER, FITTER you has arrived and there is no room for that person anymore. You did not do all that work for nothing, you did it to run, and run far - you got it all, now all you have to do is put the feet to the payment and let them carry you to the finish line!!!!!!!!!
YOU GOT THIS!!!!!!!!
Just keep chanting that over and over again and before you now it, you will be crossing the line.
Good Luck and let me know how well you have done - I would appreciate it.

You should be extremely proud of yourself for geting as far as you have! I for one couldnt run a quarter marathon if there was a lion chasing me.. I might as well just baste myself in gravy and hope I give him indigestion or something!
Just put one foot in front of the other, and keep reminding yourself why you are doing it, If you beleive you can do it, you will do it. You will pass the finish line in no time.
Sorry its not better advice, but Ill be routing for you. when do you run?0 -
Hi Joani...I see your from Pittsburgh, me too!! So I'm assuming your running in the race next week. You can do this, and you'll be so proud of yourself when you do. My husband will run in it too, he's 55, and has been running the training schedule for the past few months. If you see a good looking man with silver hair running that might be him.
Good luck and have a great time!!!0 -
I had the same doubts the whole month before my first marathon...I think its normal. but YOU CAN DO IT!!!! You have trained as best as you can, and even if you feel like you haven't, you cant change how you have trained. All you can do is tell yourself you can finish it and stick with that mentality. Try and remember why you decided to run the marathon in the first place and that might help keep you motivated. I repeat "the faster you run the faster you're done" when i'm running to keep me going. If i am really hitting a wall i will count 50 running strides (100 count steps) and say "you can do anything for 50 strides" and usually that gets me over the wall. If not, i take a break and keep going. Imagine yourself crossing the finish line and you'll make it there. Let me know how it goes--i'll be rooting for you!!!0

OF COURSE YOU CAN DO IT GIRL! Crush that stupid fat joni monster and tell her to shut the f up! You got this! Not a problem. Keep up what you have been doing, change your mentality around and push through! Take a couple hours if you can and do something you love...something not excercisy...but not eating either...hahaha. Relax for a moment and then get back on that horse! I know you can do this! You know you can do this! Stick with that!0
