My motivation moment

We have probably all have had that vague idea in the back of our head for years. I really need to lose weight. If you are anything like me it really did not make it past the thought, or brief forays into eating healthier. Then I had my motivation moment, or in my case, motivation perfect storm. All the following occurred over about a month. That was just over a year and 58 pounds ago. Here is mine feel free to share yours.
My husband of 16 years started an affair. Part emotion hormones partly a problem building for years, I promptly had the period from he!!. Ended up in emergency surgery to stop the bleeding. Once I was out of the hospital, I could not cross the street without getting winded. This was mostly blood loss, but it was FRUSTRATING. It took reduced my poor physical conditioning to abysmal too because I could simply not get any exercise without enough oxygen in my system. I knew I had to work at getting my physical condition back to at least poor ASAP once I was recovered from the blood loss.
Second motivator: The problem that had been building for years was fibroid tumors. One of the risk factors is...you guessed it...weight. Well, the tumors had been removed, but the hormone imbalance aggravated by weight had not. Those pesky fibroid tumors had popped up multiple places. Had to correct this!
Third motivator: My cousin who was 2 weeks older than me died of congestive heart failure. As I was headed to his funeral I was thinking, well it was not all that unexpected, he was quite obese, though young for this. That is when I looked at myself and thought: "So I think I am OK because I am just LESS obese?" I have many of the same genetic risk factors, I am having health issues, I need to get SERIOUS.
Fourth motivator and a bonus: Well remember this started with the affair...having a smoking hot body is not a bad thing on the dating scene. Not ready to jump in that water yet, but even with 20 more pounds to lose I have attracted some notice. My husband was also a diet saboteur. Not having him around has made the weight loss much easier
