P90X - Core Question

I know I need to work on my core strength but I notice that for exercises like banana roll that my lower back always arches and comes off the floor. Is this normal? How I can get myself to just lay flat?

Is this a dumb question?

    Make sure you are tighening your abs when doing this.. I have noticed that the more fit you become the eaiser it is to keep your body flat.
