Anyone have experience with Technogym?

My local YMCA has Technogym equipment. There is a one time charge for a 'key', which I assume is a personalization device, of $50. I'm curious whether it's worth it...

What kind of things can you personalize?

What kind of information and feedback do you receive from using the key?

Is there a website or program for a home PC where Technogym information can be synced with nutrition information?

Thanks in advance for any info!!

Unless it looks like this it's a waste of money.

Here is some info about the "wellness cloud." http://www.technogym.com/us/solutions/10001
  • I am Technogym certified. Its a great program for novice but there aren't many places who have the equipment. Its very expensive. Here in my Texas area only Villa Sports have all the equipment. Its good for beginners and automatically log your progress and range of motion, etc. A trainer should take you around with your key and go to every machine on your plan. The trainer will set the equipment settings for you and your key will store them for future reference. When you put the key in it will display the equipment name, settings for seat, etc. start, stop, and where to go next.

As for the squat rack pictures.....people tend to have terrible form. One thing about Technogym equipment is it MAKES YOU have good form and range of motion or it wont log your rep. It makes you slow down and speed up and progresses you accordingly. Its really a digital recorder and logs everything....even half reps. I didn't use my key much except for the cardio equipment. You can have it set to speed up/slow, add resistance/incline etc. Its great for sprinting because you dont need to increase the speed yourself (look out though it will get to the preset speed quick).

If you are a novice or don't want to write anything down then you will like it. If you are more advanced you may really like freemotion equipment also. As for nutrition there isn't anywhere to put it on your key. That's most likely extra from the trainer.
