Cheat day

Is it ok to have a cheat day? Most of the time I stay a little under my calorie goal during the week but on weekends I go over. When I go over Im usually still under my TDEE. Does it all average out for the week if Im under my calories for the week but over for the weeknd? Just checking on this.

All depends on your numbers... also depends on your cheat day numbers. Also - depends on your exercise regimen.... mostly cardio? sorry no cheat day.

It is definitely okay to have a cheat day! Mine was yesterday; with out-of-town guests, I knew we'd go to a fancy brunch buffet and that baked goods would probably factor in somewhere, so I snuck in a little extra exercise and cut back on calories a bit most of last week. Still lost 2 lbs for the week and I'm happy with that.

Yes it is mostly cardio all week. I do maybe 2, 3 at the most of weight lifting. Some of my cardio involves light weights with cardio. Usually my cheat day is Sunday and it is also my rest day.

cheat day is fine as long as you go right back "on program" my cheat day is sunday, I start of with a low cal/fat breakfast, but my dinner may include potatoes

I believe in cheat meals, not days. Sometimes if I exercise enough there is still enough room in my macros to splurge so I rarely ever feel deprived enough to need to have a full cheat day.

I'm planning a cheat day once a month, but I never go over 4500 kcals that day because then the whole weeks deficit is gone!

On Sundays I have chocolate and/or chips. Just wondering if it was all that bad to have a day to go over your goals.

Is it bad? That's up to you to decide. If you're still eating under your TDEE, you're still at a calorie deficit - albeit a smaller one.

Some people average out their calories for the whole week -- so if you want to eat a little less throughout the week, by all means have higher calorie weekends. If you meet your NET calorie goal for the week -- it should average out OK. The only way to know for sure is to try it out and see how your body handles it.

cheat days are fine, As long as you get back on track the next day. You didn't put the weight on in one day, one meal a week isnt going to make you gain it back. If your that worried bank your cals eg, your under by a few hundred one day as you worked out more than you thought..then save them up and put them towards your days off. Just don't go over board and eat a whole cow!

I have learnt not to feel guilty about it either, I thought last week was terrible week i was over pretty much every day and it turned out to be the best week in ages! weight loss wise anyway

    Eh. I don't call it a cheat day since I don't consider how I eat a diet.
