Fruit and Sugar content, is too much bad?

I always go over my sugar amount on MFP because of all the fruit that I eat, some people have told me before not to eat so much fruit because of all the sugar, and I always hear "only eat two servings blah blah, too much sugar from fruit no good" but I think they might be wrong. Sugar from fruit is different from the High Fructose Corn syrup (man made sugar) that's in almost everything that is sold to us in our foods and drinks. Even some cereals have that fructose corn syrup crap! But when I eat fruit my diary shows most of my vitamin intake for the day at 100% or more. Plus all the antioxidants, zero fat, high potassium, good carbs!? That sounds awesome to me!!....Even though I go over my sugar amount :ohwell: .... Can I get some opinions on this if you know a thing or two about fruit and sugar?

Too be honest you can go over sugar but I wouldn't go over too much. Even tho its natural sugar try sticking with Apples and clementines these are best form of sugar you want for your body.
Yes our food has sugar in it, but if losing weight and fat are your goals I'd keep sugar to a min. I often go over and I am still losing but I am forever tweeking my diet.
We'll see what ery one else says.0 -
I think if you're successfully losing weight and satisfied, why mess with it?!
One of the issues people have with fruit and fat loss is that eating fruit by itself will spike your blood sugar, which isn't ideal for fat loss. I don't worry too much about this, but I do often combine fruit with other foods (like oatmeal or yogurt), or shake plain cinnamon onto my fruit. Cinnamon has been shown to lower the blood sugar spike from a meal, which is incredible!0 -
I wouldn't obsess too much about the sugar thing. I think the goal is to get like, almost all of your sugar from fruit/veggies/etc. and not eat extra table sugar or "junk food" sugars haha. but that's not to say you should replace all of that with splenda or something...there are health detriments to the chemicals that companies put in the artificial sweeteners, some of them are known to even cause cancer(!)
with that said, yes, there are tons of health benefits to fruit, like the ones listed. BUT, that doesn't mean you can eat unlimited amounts of it. for instance, there are tons of health benefits to peanut butter...but if you ate scoopfuls of it at a time, that would pack on like over 1000 calories in 4 bites! I think of fruit and sugar the same way...yes fruit has health benefits, but eat limited amounts of it.
also a side note...steve jobs at one point went on an extremely high fruit diet for a long period of time, and some doctors think that may have caused his pancreatic cancer.0 -
