Hi, my first post here.
Got some questions and stuff but figured I better post here first. I have made several starts and stops with trying to get healthy. I have been obese for 10 years or so. I am 41 yrs old.
I had a good start back on Oct but fell off in Nov. I started back up a few weeks ago and have been doing good. Trying to be as accurate as I can with the journal. Seeing the cal and sodium and other stats on foods is a real eye opener. Using the journal as a planner and not just as an after the fact "Oh how did I do?" is a real help to me. I have a goal to lose 40 pounds.
I am working on a modified P90x (Core synergistics, shoulders & arms, kenpo X, core synergistics, legs & back, Cardio X, rest)program to get started and want to start a couch to 5k plan. Long term goal to run a 10 mi or half marathon next year. Look forward to talking with you all more.

Your program to "get started" made me smile. P90X is quite a starter! Sounds like you are determined. Good luck to you.0

Well one of the things that motivated me was someone at work looked great after a few months of P90X. He wasn't in bad shape to start with and was a retired Marine, but was really impressed with his results.
So after I got it, I was like "uh oh, can I even do this?". This led to some of the starts and stops. I talked to my doctor and she encouraged me to modify it as many of her patients did. So I came up with what I think are the routines I like doing (minimal yoga) and further mofiying those routines (wieght assisted pull ups, regular push ups instead of sphinx, over unders, etc.).
After a few months and feeling stronger and have exercise as a habit, I can try to the full program formally.
Couple motivations: We go to Disney every year and going through pictures with my kids I just look bad in most pics. I am worried my kids are going to pick up my bad habits. I want to participate in a runDisney event (The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 10-Miler). My wife is in good shape and want us to look good together.0 -
