Engineered Food / Supplements

Today I'm going directly to the gym after work. I'm planning to survive on Cliff bars beforehand and PowerBars (protein plus) afterward for convenience. Part of me thinks that I should be trying to do better than nutritionally engineered chocolate bars as food, but mostly I don't care. Does anyone else rely pretty heavily on engineered foods or supplements? If so, how's it working out for you?

Works great for me. Your body doesn't care how "engineered" the food is. It cares about nutrients.

I prefer to go for real fresh foods because I find I can get a lot more for the same or less calories.

When I'm in a pinch I will eat things like protein bars or shakes. I try not to but I will consume those now and again.

I don't think it's a problem unless you are soley relying on processed foods all day, everyday.

pretty sure my body cant tell if its engineered food or not... it just sees the macro and micronutrients.

Thanks everyone. You all seem pretty reasonable, and your opinions are a basically the same as mine. I've heard a lot of fuss about natural and 'whole' foods and that thought that I'd get a few opinions in order to make sure there's not something that I'm missing.
